Hey I found this new blog about depression. The writing style is a bit rough, but it makes some interesting points. I figured I'd share it and see what other people thought.

Warning there's cursing and stuff. But past that, it's engaging at least.

I personally didn't like the site, though others might. I sent an alert to admin because of all the swearing. I don't know if we can keep it posted.

Welcome to the forum...

The issue with this site is that it has the ability to be self destructive.

The information being shared can be expressed in a more respectful and non-violent way. The language is very triggering for some people.

Depression is an illness and should be treated and respected as one, not talked about like it is dirt.

Just saying...

Karen I believe the new member wrote the blog and it is considered self serving, and blogs are not allowed within the body of post.

It should be deleted and reported as well. I took a peek, and it defiantly does not belong here on HW. However this is your forum to moderate…just putting in my two cents…and it is something we would not allow on the CP forum.

Yes I did. I apologize if it broke the rules. I wanted to gauge peoples' reactions without influencing them. It is self-serving.

The feedback is interesting. I figured the cursing might be an issue, although it is there for a reason. As for talking about depression like it is dirt, I don't believe that it does that, but I respect that interpretation.

That it could be self-destructive is worrisome. I'd welcome clarification, but I understand if at this point no one is interested in discussing it.

Thanks for the information.

Best,
Blubberberry

Blubberberry,

When people discuss a subject as sensitive as depression, it must be done in a gentle, non-violent way.

depression is caused by many things, past trauma, new trauma, loss grief, the list is long. Angry, foul statements can trigger people that have a violent, troubled past or are currently in an abusive relationship.

Help needs be presented so the person feels safe to open up and express themselves. Be open to listening to what others say; and not hounded by voices being triggered in their heads by a word.

Contrary to popular opinion, cursing is NOT a healthy outlet, it is not cool, it only builds on the anger already repressed. That is why it is not acceptable in forums such as this one.

I hope you can understand for you benefit and well as others.

Trina
