I'm looking for an over the counter product for Mood Support. Doctor recommended mild dosage of Lamictal.  I fear side effects and being addicted to drugs long term.   Anyone taking an over the counter product.  Thanks.

There is sleepy time tea, and other things like valarien. Just to name a couple. Melatonin works good too.

HOpe you find what works for you. I have had good luck witht he tea and with the melatonin.

WELL NOT HERE DOWN UNDER. CONSULT YOUR DOC. CAN GET A RARE
NASTY LIFE THREATENING RASH. OTHER STANDARD S/E AS WELL.
I HAVE HAD NO S/E. AWAITING FOR IT TO KICK IN.

Soon after I posted I did a search and found a product online with 16 ingredients such as Valerian, 5 HTP, GABA, St. John's Wort, Taurine, Thiamine and others.  It received favorable
reviews.  At just $12.05 for a 45 day supply, I ordered it.  I'm hoping that I'll achieve the same results as a low dosage of Lamictal without side effects.  I'll also try the Sleepy Time Tea.

Michael,

If you live alone especially, it would be a very good idea for you to keep track of your daily moods. 0 feel great 10 awful-worse. Perhaps list the emotions you are feeling also they can change.

This way you can tell if the OTC product is working, or if you get side effects from it.

If you start to rocket to high numbers or roller coaster up and down, you need to call your doc back.

I have been where you are. Good plan, just do it wisely and safely. cool

Good luck.

BnotAfraid. I've never had a serious medical issue except for mild hypertension. I'm dealing with depression which began in January. In recent months, I've improved by exercising (walking 8 - 10 miles a day), eating healthier and taking all natural supplements. I've been seeing a Therapist for several weeks who suggested I see a Psychiatrist that he recommended. I told the psychiatrist that the depression is now milder than when it first began. Doctor handed me a prescription for Lamictal (50mg). This was last week. I haven't filled the prescription. I want to first try an all natural over the counter product first. This product has received many excellent reviews. I will follow your advise regarding daily moods and see if the OTC product is working. I'm a Senior who lives alone.

I was thinking sleep support. There is 5htp, stjohnswort and others that you can try. Dephlin is used too. I hope that you find what is right for you. Keep posting and know we all care about you.

You are on the right track and Karen's suggestion and top notch!

It feels good to hear that you are taking such positive steps to care for yourself. These things are more that half the battle with depression.
