Has anyone experienced insatiable hunger with Emsam? I'm only on the 6 mg patch but after 7 days I found I couldn't stop feeling hungry all the time. I've been on it now almost 3 weeks and it seems to have just gotten worse. I don't want to gain weight - I've recently lost a lot of weight, I'm now where I want to be.

This is the first I have heard of Emsam, thank you for sharing with us. I would suggest eating fresh fruits and vegies. You do need to eat, but watch your calorie intake. Do a lot of walking if you can.

Let us know how this medication goes. Good luck and keep us posted.
Here is some information on it incase it is new to others...

I think it first came out in 2006. It's primarily for atypical depression and depression that hasn't responded to SSRIs or SNRIs. I was on Parnate, which worked well, but I couldn't sleep. My psychiatrist says Emsam is well tolerated but it seems odd that more people aren't using it since atypical depression is actually fairly common. It is very expensive so you definitely have to have insurance to afford it. I'm at a very low dose because I tend to be hypersensitive to medications. My understanding is that I'm only affecting dopamine at 6 mg. I may have to go up to 9 mg but I'm worried it will effect my sleep.

I do eat a lot of fruits and veggies as I'm vegan. Thanks for the advice though.
