Hi, my screen name is Display.

i write in here frequently about being depressed and feeling horrible. but today i have a different topic.

i had a kind of breakthrough today. i was not doing anything unusual. one of the things i spend a lot of time doing is playing solitaire on the computer. i usually do not like myself much when i do this - which is a big problem, because i spend LOTS of time doing it.

it just occurred to me in a moment of peace that i need to be way more compassionate with myself when i am having a hard time. i am not sure, but i think there is a lot of self-criticism inside me. and that mean voice does not really do me any favors when i listen to it.

for whatever it's worth, that's my breakthrough.

I am glad that you realized that. Now you will know to give yourself a break once in awhile. And to be good to yourself.

Display!

That is wonderful! You are on your way to breaking your automatic thought process from the past and giving yourself honest and true self-love.

This is awesome! If we don't like ourselves no one can truly like us back. Give yourself all the compassion you can, from a grilled cheese sandwich when you want it to ice cream for breakfast.
Getting in your comfy clothes and curling up for the afternoon or evening with a great book or listening to your favorite music. Whatever brings you a little joy, just a smile, is compassionate to you.

Well done, my friend. cool
