My boyfriend (6 years) and i just got life insurance on ourselves... It got me thinking if something were to happen to us, where would our dd go? So we decided my sister and brother-in-law are the best choice to be dd's guardians. We talked to them and they are more than happy to do this for us. Now im wondering what the next step is... Do i go see a lawyer, or write something up and get it notarized? How many of you have someone to raise your child if something were to happen to you? Is it something you just decided and talked about, or something that has to be official? We just want to make sure this is something that can not be contested... Between both our families we trust my sister absolutely with the most important piece of us...

You would probably want to make them Godparents. I am not sure how to do that. Maybe with the state or something. Or in a will???  Best wishes.

You would want to put it in writing and notarized in a "living will" and a regular Will.
