Hi, everyone...

I've just started on Cymbalta 30 mg. for leg pain, restless legs, depression, fibromyalgia, and newly-diagnosed bone on bone osteoarthritis in both knees :(

I'm only on my third dose but just wondering how long I'm going to feel like a zombie?! The past two days I've just been so out of it - can't seem to wake up and also feeling quite nauseous and shaky like tremors. Also seems to be making the restless legs much worse.

I've read this drug really helps with the chronic pain and the osteoarthritis so I'm hoping I can stick it out, but it would sure help to know this is only temporary... I can't sleep all day every day!

But strangely I do seem to already feel a little more like my old self. Don't know if this is possible this fast... And I'm not really wanting to eat, which is a good thing since I'm 200 lbs overweight which isn't helping the pain either. Oh and I've also suffered from Lyme disease for almost 24 years now - was misdiagnosed for 22 years so its very hard to treat now...

Thanks so much for any encouragement...

Side effects usually take 2 4 weeks to calm down. with Cymbalata
drink plenty of water for the nausea.

Hi Jacki,

Welcome to the depression forum. I think Trina is spot on, I think that the side effects will go away and you will be feeling better. There has been a lot of posts on Cymbalta lately and the side effects. Maybe you can look through the forum and find them.

I hope that you feel better soon.

Take care and keep posting.

Hugs, Karen...

Hello Jacki, welcome to the depressiom forum. I think you will like it here.

You mentioned being 200 lbs over weight, and I have wondered why there is not a forum for eating disorder, I call it an illness because I think it is an illness. Just like AA is a disorder or illness. my father was an alcoholic. When he was diagnosed with cancer,he quit the alcohol and then straight to the candy bars. I joined that food disorder with him. He had at least a dozen large snickers, almond chocolate bars, chocolate milk, peanut MMs. IF only he had a medication for his depression. he needed it so much.

Back to the eating disorder, I think it would be great to have a new forum. I certainly have a disorder, be it craving certain foods or just plane eating too much.

Welcome again jamiee, my best regards, Cathy

Thanks so much for the welcome and suggestions... The first thing I've done is switch from taking it at night to morning and that seems to be a little better... Hopefully as time goes by, I'll keep adapting...

Hi Jacki

I'm on week 6 of cymbalta-the first 4 were hell!! And then, pouf!

I always take anti-ds in the am, since some of them can have an almost stimulating effect.

Hang in there kiddo-I feel more like myself than I have in a looong time

Best of luck

Wow, I've got the shakes SO bad and feel flu-like, achy, bad restless legs... I has just about decided to stop the Cymbalta today but then I read these posts again and wonder if I should keep it up since I'm only at week 2... I'm still on just 30 mg but Dr. Gave me the 60 mg to start in two days. But if it's THIS bad on just 30 how bad will 60 be?!

Sometimes, the upped dosage results in the side effects being eliminated. The only way to know how your body will be affected is to try.

Try to hang in there. My side effects, altho not the same as yours lasted til week 4. Hopefully it will be sooner for you. I dreaded going from 30 to 60 also, but s/e did not get worse and soon disappeared.

I may have to go up to 90mg soon, but doctor siad increasing after initial period, you should not suffer like the initial period. Glad to hear that.

I pray it works for you. This is the 1st time in 2 years that I have started caring and completing things.

Let us know

Hey guys and girls, I know for me its always the 30Day just like they say trial to see if its gonna work or not, I think that has to with building up the chemicals in your brain vs. your metabolism flushing them out. Of course that doesn't apply to those "stop taking _______and call your doctor right away if you experience any of these symptoms." I never used to read those until I ended up having to have brain surgery after a bad reaction to Effexor. I had a tumor the size of a baseball which is why they did the surgery, but Effexor made my brain swell which is how they found it. Not trying to say anything against taking meds, no,no I take Lithium cause its the only one I can tolerate that does anything and I've been on Everything! I was manic-depressive back in the early 90's before the changed it to Bi-Polar, I had postpartum depression, twice and recently added a Borderline Personality Disorder tag. I didn't mean to hijack the post but you know how us BP/BPD are;)
