I've been really down in the dumps for a long while.

I've been trying to figure out why I've been down. I've tried tons of different things (hobbies, medications), but nothing seems to work.

Here's my theory: Every person has a passion in their life. That passion drives them. For some folks it's money, for others it's sports.

My passion? My work. I used to be in radio. I loved it. However, I got out of the business a few years ago. It seems that my depression coincides with me leaving my former job. My heart really isn't into what I'm doing now.

The easiest solution is to go back to what I love doing. However, is that the solution? Should my job (my passion) run my life?

Just curious.

Hope you guys can help.

I think they do, after all what is life about really?...family , friends, etc... your passions in life are an extention of you..who you are, what you are about, very few people find something in life that they truly have a passion for, It probably feels as part of you is missing, or least I think thats the way I would feel. I am no doctor and this is only my opinion, but if it really makes you happy then why wouldnt you do it!

Thank you for your reply. I think it's hard talking to people who have never really had a passion for what they do.

I think I took a comfort job with lots of security and have neglected my passion.

This is something I have to discuss further with my wife. I have been on anti-depressants for almost 3 years with no luck. When I break down the problems in my life, everything points to me missing my passion.

Thanks again.

SC

I am not sure that your passion should run your life, but I do not that it should be a part of it if at all possible. Hope that clarifies better what I was saying on the CD board.
