It's interesting. I used to be very outgoing and open. (Stop laughin' all yawl). My first marriage ended badly in 2000, with a betrayal, and massive amounts of lying on his part and looking the other way on mine. Not purposely, mind you, but I will say that I gave him much more leeway than he deserved.
I note that afterward, I am not so open and friendly. I notice that it is harder for me to open up to someone and be a friend.
It's true as Trina said, we don't have control of others, just ourselves. Trust is one of those things we have to take on faith, and it's either rewarded or punished. Unfortunately, this starts to construct a response on our part, either of trusting people or doubting.
Life and love and relationships are hard. We all mess up occasionally, but we have to learn how to be good communicators/friends/lovers by practicing our skills on other people.
