Hello, I have had chronic depression since i was a child - been on and off so many meds I can't even remember many of them. I have been in and out of the hospital, tried so many things, but nothing seems to help me.
Now my doc is talking about ECT - they wanted to do that when I was 17 as well, but I refused. It scares me, but I feel like I've run out of options and I'll do anything to enjoy life while I'm still here.
Has anyone here had it? Did it work? I'd appreciate feedback - this is a big decision for me (I find even little ones extremely difficult right now)

I faced the same question a couple years back.  did not do it.  it seems to extreme for me, but I am still battling depression, so who knows??

good luck - no matter what your decision is, I hope your depression eases.

take care.

Hey Melanie,

I think the doc or clinic performing the ECT should give you detailed information about the procedure and the possible side effects. Maybe you should make a list of questions and ask the doc who you could talk to about getting detailed information.

There were a couple of posts a while back that encouraged this procedure, but then someone else (who had not had it done) spoke against it.

Keep us posted sis!
