I have this that starts in the fall when the days get shorter, and then feel better around January 15th when the days start to get longer again.  Does anyone have this?  I am even on antidepressant and I still feel depressed from the shorter days.  I need to buy a light box, but have no idea where to go.  I have called and left a message at the Doctors office to see if they know.  Does anyone have a Light therapy box, and has it helped you for SAD? Thanks!

Well since you are talking about the fall rather than the autumn I guess that you are American rather than British/English like me... oh well I don't suppose it is your fault nono now is it tongue Pity as I might have been able to help you. I have a friend who's got one of those light thingys and he reckons it helps him a lot.

Unti recently I worked as administrator in a large branch of Boots The Chemists and our branch sold  large and  small light machines on our first floor in the electrical beauty goods section near hair straighteners foot spas etc etc.

Apparently the light coming out of the lamps is the same as natural sunlight and consequently therapeutic for people who  are harmed and depressed by these cold grey dark days we are now having.

So try a large department store or even large chemists with an electrical section - phone 'em up if you are a bit nervous about asking a shop assistant face to face. Or take a look at the store's website.

Hi Rianna,

Make sure that you learn about *how* the light-box helps. To be most effective, it should be used early morning (before sunrise). The reason is that this will simulate lengthened day for the brain. I've also seen the light visor. I had a friend who used both and found that the visor was great for mobility. He simply got up earlier and used his light box or visor to read a good book.

I hope this helps. Please let us know how your light therepy helps!!

Blessings!
