i am new to this site and suffer from depression, panic and anxiety disorder, agoraphobia and diabetes among other things.  i recently moved cross country to be near some family but they have all since abandoned me as they don't "get'" my illness and never will.  i have been sick for about 15 years.  i never could tolerate AD's and became addicted to ativan.  i am currently tapering off it using valium with the help of my dr.  i am so sick and lonely in this new city, with no friends, no family now and no car not to mention this hell of detoxing.  could use a few kind word and would like to know if anyone here has tapered off benzos and survived.

Just letting you know we are here for you. Sorry things are so difficult right now. Hopefully things will get better when you are through the detox. Wish I could do more than say I am here and listening.
We can respond to irritation with a smile instead of scowl, or by giving warm praise instead of icy indifference. By our being understanding instead of abrupt, others, in turn, may decide to hold on a little longer rather than to give way. Love, patience, and meekness can be just as contagious as rudeness and crudeness.
