Hey everyone,

So I have been on Lexapro for about 13-14 years. Recently, my dose was increased to 20 mg (in March) then again to 30 mg 2 weeks ago. I am still struggling with some anxiety and sadness. I would assume being on this med so long it would not take too long to feel the effects of the increased dose. Has anyone been on this, or any SSRI, long term and recently had an increase of dose? I just am wondering if it takes time for it to start working or just simply isn't effective anymore.

I need to add that I am scared to switch meds or add another. My doc added Abilify the first time my Lexapro was increased in March and I had a horrible time with it.

Thank you all!

I take abilify and I love it. Medications can kind of poop out. Some do some don't. If the increase doesn't work, talk to the doc about an SNRI. They help more with anxiety.

Best wishes. I hope that your Lexapro starts working again for you.

Welcome to the forum.

That is good. I know you have been on the same med for a long time. It is hard to switch or change. I am glad you are seeing your psychiatrist soon. That is two weeks off. Don't hesitate to call if things get difficult. And you know what? The 22nd is my birthday!!! Ha Ha Ha!!!

Take things one day at a time if you can.
