I'm hoping this lull in participation is a sign that 'things' are going well for all of us!
We've been having yet another heat wave...making keeping the garden looking good is a definite challenge! Plants need water, but it's too hot for me to get that chore done! I'm 'spot watering' only the most distressed plants day by day.
Still, each morning, I step outside into a wonder of blossoms! The trumpet vine is now covered in golden trumpets AND long green seed pods. The deep purple morning glories have intertwined with just about everything they can climb! The dahlia, with it's plum colored petals tipped in pure white are standing proud against the unrelenting heat and humidity. I've yet another plate sized hibiscus bloom hinting at seasonal cranberries, making my mouth water. Soon, the goldenrod will take over providing a sunny yellow that will be missed when the day lilies take their break. And this is all just the back yard!
I check daily for any sign of Monarch butterfly caterpillars...to no avail. I'm not even seeing many milkweed beetles this year. There's still time, but it may just be someone else's turn to play hostess.
Things have improved here with my housemates pitching in more with the chores. The car is still the 'elephant in the room' and not discussed. I'm still hurt/angry. In some ways, I'm grateful for my daughter's medical condition as it does lead to conversation at least. It's the most 'normal' interaction we have.
I'm looking forward to an upcoming bus trip to Smithville...a little 'tourist trap' but very quaint. My niece was married there and I've wanted to go back ever since! Our social worker here made the arrangements and one of my friends here is going also, so it should be fun. It's not for another month, but should be worth the wait.
Hope everyone is well.
