All my life I have been ignored. from being a kid that wasn't wanted to be married to a man that won't even tell me I am pretty or take me on a date. other people are better than me. once i got cancer in my 30's i.ts been a rollercoaster ride for me. I am 70 and tired of being depressed I have a bad back, cancer off and on, fibro, the list goes on. I have had to work all my life at hard jobs. so my reasons for being depressed are real. but people don't understand that. I am now home bound, most of my friends have moved on ( I can't do anything fun) but most of them are in their 50's so I understand that. I am not looking for pity I am just looking for someone to talk to . plus my dog wants to play ball all day long. if not she is laying on me.

Sorry to hear dippidydoo.

I often wonder why life isn't tweaked to have a little more love, and a little less pain...it sure can be tough.
I think you're amazing for battling through all that, and for being brave enough to reach out for some people to chat with. You deserve some fun, and your dog deserves a bit of play smile

Can you get any kind of home care support? Maybe someone to drop in a few days a week, since you are stuck at home. Some pain management techniques could be useful too.
Clearly you are pretty tough!

Hope you keep chatting, take care.

Hi Dippidydoo,

Ambling is right, you been through a lot. First of all though, try not to compare yourself to others. There will always be greater and lesser people than yourself.

Be proud of who you are. You have your own story, you are a precious individual. Love yourself..

I hope you feel better, and I too hope you stick around. Posting really helps.

Hang in there, welcome to the forum.

Hugs, Karen...

It sounds like life has been a quite a bit of a *hit sandwich for you, DippityDo. It does seem that some people are just chronically unlucky, and it sounds like that is a path you've walked. I wish for you a way to get out of the house and interact with people. Sometimes, when I'm at my lowest lows, I don't want to interact with people, don't answer the phone, isolate myself. But I've found that if somehow I can FORCE myself to get out of the house and interact with people, I gain so much perspective that everyone has troubles and difficulties, and my life really is NOT completely 100% horrible, nor am I a despicable person, despite believing that just a couple of hours ago.

You say you are homebound. Can you invite people to come into your home if you can't leave? Are you a reader? Can you possibly join a book club? I find my dogs and even my parrots bring me lots of happiness, even when I'm really sad. I hope your dog does that for you. I have discovered that no one -- NO ONE -- loves you like your dog does. Always happy to see you, always freely giving you all of their love, without any conditions.

I hope life gets better for you, DD.

I understand what you are saying
Life in general for me has always been difficult
However I think of a favorite aunt who has passed on who said I pray to God and tell him it’s been a hard life but a good life
I feel the same-do you?

Welcome Dippidydoo!

Well you certainly have a good sense of humor, as indicated by your member name!

If it is any conciliation you are by far not alone! You have also landed in soft and validating place.

We have a "Daily Thread" that members post to, sharing what is going on in our lives, supporting each other, finding common interests etc... You may want to check that out. We would love to learn more about you.

I get the dog thing, I guess with cancer it is painful for your dog to lay on you. I find it comforting, the unconditional love from dogs is the only consistant thing I have ever had in my life. I am 57.
I have always had a dog in my life.

I can't say I get how depressed you are, I think it is a different kind of depression that I deal with. I don't know if you have talked to your doctor, even your oncologist, about how you feel. However, there is no shame or fault in how you feel and there are medications that help balance your emotions.

I would like to offer this website for you. It has lots of information for you to help understand how you can change the way your feel. and NO it is not to late.

Peace
