Hi, I'm Rich and I suffer from depression.

Just feeling really down today. It is cold outside and I hate that, especially when I have to go out on errands. Not much I can do about it but dress warmly.

My sister, who had breast cancer, is having complications. I am worried about her and having a tough time going to talk to her and let her know I care.

I am working on a writing assignment and really aware of my self doubt. But I also tell myself, if they didn't think you could do it, they wouldn't have asked you.

Reaching out to other people is how I get through these dark periods. So that is what I am doing.

Love, Rich

Hi Rich,

I am glad you are reaching out. Sometimes life can be so difficult. Prayers for your sister. I hope things get better for her.

It is real cold here today too. The sun is just coming up above the tree line. It is very frosty. I don't know how I am going to make it through the winter as I am freezing now. One day at a time I guess.

I agree with you, if they didn't think you could do the assignment, they wouldn't of asked you. Try to muster up some confidence. I know, easier said than done. But I have confidence in you. You will complete the assignment.

I hope you feel better Rich. I am glad you posted here. Things are starting to pick up with the new format. I am glad. People need to be able to reach out for help and encouragement. Hang in there, one day at a time as I always try to do.

Hugs, Karen...

Hi Rich

At first glance I thought you were very Wealthy. Nice name.

I am rich in things I have in my surroundings. This site can only make us "richer" in dealing with our demons.

That self-doubt is so tough, isn't it, Rich. I think we all deal with it to one degree or another, but being depressed gives you special powers to interpret everything in the most negative way, one; and, two, to believe the most awful, most negative things about yourself, even with proof right in front of your face that you are not incompetent, not stupid, not an awful person. Your brain is playing tricks on you. And those nasty thoughts seem to come unbidden and can overwhelm your ability to realistically see your good points.

I hope you will find the courage to talk to your sister and offer your support and love.
