Hello everyone . Wondering if anyone has had luck with SAMe?? Also what milligram was helpful? Just started taking “Doctor’s Best” 200mg twice a day. Also how long before you noticed some relief. Thanks!!! Praying whoever reads this will feel better soon!!

Hi CAN'T GIVE UP,

Welcome to the forum! I have never taken SAMe. I take Pristiq. I hope it works for you though and that if anyone sees this post that is taking it that they reply.

Is this something you would get at a health food store? There are other supplements too I understand that are suppose to help with depression. Though at the moment I am not remembering the names.

Keep us posted on how this works for you. I am curious. And I do hope that it helps.

There are a lot of things we can do also to help ourselves, such as meditation, mindfulness and even within what we eat. We kind of call it our tool box.

Take care...

Hugs, Karen...

Thanks For the quick response Karen. I have a long history of meds I’ve tried for depression. Thought I would give something with less side effects a shot. Doc recommended the SAMe. Reviews sound positive. Thanks!

Did the doctor say how long it takes to start working? As antidepressants can take a long time. I can imagine you would want to try something with less side effects. When I was on SSRI's I had every side effect in the book. And a few that weren't in the book. I had better luck with SNRI's... And I seem to be able to take them for a long time. So that helps. I didn't seem to get side effects with the latter.

Do keep us posted. This could be a healing journey for you. I hope that it is.

Take care, keep posting... It does help.

Hugs, Karen...

Hello Can t give up.I took SamE for abour 3 months. It worked pretty good but the side effect was too much .II also suffer from Gerd and SamE really upset my digestive system. If you look it up, the first side effect listed is an upset stomach. In Europe this is the first thing they give someone who is suffering from depression.I have a friend who has been on it for years and he loves it.It is more expensive than a lot of anti -depressant drugs but no side effects for him. Good Luck
