Hello Clare5,

What kind of things do you like to do? What things would you like to try that you haven't done before as a hobby or activity?

Got any good movies around to watch? Go get some popcorn to go with them? Splurge on something for you, even if it is an inexpensive things it can still be fun! A magazine you like but don't normally buy, a book, etc.

Draw? Write? Call someone you haven't talked to for a while and see how they are doing?

And, of course, post here or check out the chat room! :-)

Hi Clare5,

If you don't already, ever consider learning how to play a musical instrument? I find it to be very therapeutic. I wouldn't recommend the drums, the neighbors will be complaining within like 5 minutes. Acoustic guitar is great, relatively cheap and easy to carry around. There's tons of great websites out there that show you how to play all the songs on the radio. But anyway, this is just what I like to do. Good luck!

After my divorce and before I met my most wonderful husband, I used to drown my sorrows with my friend Jose Quervo. I DON'T ADVISE THAT nono

The absolute best thing I did was take up the sport of walking. I joined a gym and would walk 3 miles a day there. On my lunch hour I worked next to a Mall and would walk a mile there. I even got up at 5:30am to walk a mile before work!. That was 5 miles a day. times 5 days a week. WOW! Man was I buff! and feeling great. The only bad thing was that I couldn't get enuf of it. I could hardly sit still. It is an adrenaline rushhhhh like drugs.......so buyer beware.

I have bought a treadmill now and no longer have my 105lb buffness. But 10years have past since then too.
I will tread again. and soon. But will do it for my health only, not my mania!

Shopping is another thing I do when I am depressed or bored.. Can you tell I am female?!?!? Its really depressing when you shouldn't be buying because you have other things to do with your money. But, every once in a while I will bring home a new piece of something and thank my husband for it. It makes him happy to see me happy since he is mostly housebound anyway.

Do you have a Church family? I would do more with mine, but I won't because I won't without my husband. You can find alot of good people and a feeling of belonging with your Church or religious family whatever it may be.

Hi Clare,

You have received some great suggestions above!!

I think volunteering is a real lift. I thought I was helping others, but it really helped me. You can volunteer at a local hunger center, nursing home, shelter, or church.

Elderly shut-ins REALLY enjoy a visit and I marvel sometimes at the wisdom they offer.

Hope you found something fun to do this weekend!!

Blessings!
