Weary, when my mother was dx'd with terminal cancer I brought her here to live with us. She lived in a real small town in Kansas that had horrible drs. She lived 11 months.
She was on Social Security & had Medicare, plus she had a supplemental policy that paid the 20% that Medicare does not pay. Her dr ordered home health care to come to our home & they checked her out such as vitals & helped give her showers. This all happened when her health started declining.
If a dr orders home health for your MIL, no she will not be in jeopardy of losing her Social Security or Medicare.
I would contact the hospital & ask to speak with a patient advocate. Explain what you were told about getting her some help & how no one has contacted you. A good patient advocate will help you & they will know what Medicare pays for.
