Kathy,

I am so sorry to hear about Sid. I know how it feels to lose them suddenly. May peace be with you knowing you took good care of him.

Good day to all.

Oh no Jamie!!!

I would call the shop where you bought the fish.
The should be telling you which fish can commute together. Why throw $ away?
2 or 3rd time?
Sad on top of it all.
Don't like it...
Off soap box to meditate.. may your fish have peace

Buena...I am so sad for you! I know how much you loved Sid.

HT...I am sad for you, too. I've never had luck with fish.

No word yet on Lisa's Mom other than they drained 7 liters of fluid from her abdomen.

Glued to the t.v. with todays events. Most disturbed by the vulnerability.

Buena, I'm sorry about Sid. It's so hard when pets die because they become a member of your family.

So crazy about what's going on in the news. I never thought I would see such a thing. I hope things calm down.

Kathy..Very sad time to hear of your beloved dog crossing over the rainbow. It leaves a hole in life until we figure out how to fill it . Healing blessings sent your way.

HT... I have a koi pond I built for over 20 years. The koi are like garden fixtures now they live a long time. Are your fish salt or freshwater, inside aquarium? My son had a beautiful saltwater aquarium and so many beautiful fish.

Pitmom, hope your mom will do ok for covid testing and biopsy ok.And poor kitty 🐱 ... sick from what?
When animals get sick it’s hard to know what wrong. Over the years ...Between horses, cats and dogs I have to tell ya I get very tired of vets especially large animal vets, and don’t get me started on farriers... they are a breed of their own always irritating my horses. I need to find a kinder one.
And Hellebores are a fav winter blooming flower I have collected many different varieties over the years. Mine are all just setting bud. They spread well as long as the soil is left undisturbed for the seeds to germinate .

Karen stayin warm ? Is it snowing in your neck of the woods. Soon it will be time to start seeds. If I remember correctly you lov starting veggies and flowers from seed. It’s so amazing as long as I have grown from seed I still am amazed at how a itty bitty seed can grow into such a beautiful plant. It’s 🧙‍♀️ magical really.

Trina I like B movies too. Especially like the old 60’s-70’s Noir flicks. Like Kim Novak and Kirk Douglas ln “Strangers When we Meet”. Excellent movie ...

I was also feeling optimistic today.

Events this afternoon, I am feeling so SICK right now . This all is so hard believe.

Praying for a positive day in the senate tomorrow. 🙏🏽

Removed political content..

Chotti,

I think seed catalogs start coming out this month. I didn't have any plants last year. Didn't even go to the greenhouse store. No flowers except a basket somebody got me. This year will hopefully be better.

I love looking through catalogs whether I buy anything or not.

Enjoy your day.

Catalogs are always a good way to keep up with all the new varieties of fav garden plants . So many new hydrangeas, hostas, daylilies. It hard to keep up with identification of the new varieties. Veggies also .

Will need to take out three 60’- 80’ pine trees that have blight from the beetle effecting many pine trees in my state. Needles fall like snow, a big nightmare at this point. Fire hazard in summer.

Sad to hear about your trees. NJ's been having molds, mytes, 🐞 beetles, lady bugs are nice though
Don't know what else. Can't garden as I have in the past.. physical limitations

So, they tested the fluid drawn out of parter's Mom's belly...she had a raging infection! E.R. for I.V. meds, admitted Friday, may come home Monday or Tuesday. Still has to have biopsy for possible cancer in the G.I. tract. My partner is a bit of a mess. She came down for the day but didn't stay overnight, then back down again on Sunday...it's understandable. No argument from me. Home, she is only 10 minutes from the hospital. Here, almost an hour away.

As for what made the cat sick...who knows? I suspect she had a bad reaction to something associated with my daughter or grandson...perfume or body spray? Cats are so sensitive to certain things and their visit was the only 'out of the ordinary' for her. Her sickness started a day or so after they were here at Christmas, she was getting better but then they came again New Years Eve day and she got awful sick again...too much to be a coincidence. They are understandably banned from my house! At least until she is strong again and I can have the windows open.

Some of my amaryllis are breaking dormancy...so sign of buds yet...but I love seeing the fresh green anyway. Trying to plan what type of raised beds to grow veggies in this coming Spring/Summer.

Found a pretty little candleier (chandelier for candles) to hang in the living room and a standing one for the bedroom. That last will have to be painted white to cover the awful 'faux patina'. Still, I'm happy with the way the decor is coming together. Now, if I could just find a contractor to help me replace the rim joist on my home!

Pitmom... Sorry that your friends mom is so sick. Sending healing prayers your way. It’s important to Stay mindful of our health not only flu but personal issues during this pandemic 😷.

Poor kitty 🐱 mabe time to take to the vet? Could be something serious. Cats are susceptible to urinary trac infections antibiotics could help. Just thinking out loud .

I read where a ‘Bond girl’ passed last week from a urinary trac infection at only 64. Very stressing to read ... all the Bond girls are so beyond gorgeous. I sometimes wonder if being so nock down beautiful can be a positive or a negative. I guess I’ll never know.. past my prime for years now... but still beautiful in side . Like We all are for sure. I have known many of you for years. 🤗❤️ Never heard any negativity from anyone. Everyone
IS Always SO very kind and supportive. That’s why I come around ...sometimes life gets to be way over bearing.
You all are very helpful....I appreciate all of your kindness, words of wisdom shared very much!

All the amaryllis I forced to grow inside over the holidays are bloomin. So beautiful. Amazing to see how a bulb is packed with such a beautiful gift. And they smell so nice and spicy. Reds, stripped, greens, whites and my fav pink “Apple Blossom” double flower petals. In a few months veggies and amaryllis will bring lots of 🤩 in your garden Pitmom. We must be on the same wave length I too have found a chandelier . I have added a few things to it...well a lot to update it but I like it . How’s your hips doing in winter cold? They can be very painful with bursitis. What do you do for them for comfort?

Hope you can get your home fixed. It’s so hard to find decent qualified repairman.be sure do to background check and check his referrals.

Karen, HT, Trina , and everyone .....sending good vibes your way ❤️🧑‍🌾👍

Thanks for the good vibes Chotti. It means a lot.

Not much going on at this end. Kind of windy here today but not too cold. Not warm by any means though. Supposed to get a storm coming in Thursday. Could be snow, could be rain. Depends on the temperatures. We are on the fence.

I think a friend of mine has the virus. Both her daughters have it and her mother, sister and brother in law. Plus a niece and her husband. I guess it was just a matter of time. She has a sore throat. I hope that is all it is. We'll see I guess. I am going to call her back in a couple of days.

This whole virus thing scares the crap out of me. My husband and I have been lucky thus far. I hope it stays that way, but I live in a small town and it is like if one person gets something, the whole town gets it. So we'll see on that one too I guess.

I hope you all have a good day and I hope you all are feeling well. Keep hanging on, that is the best we can do. And to take things a day at a time.

Hugs, Karen...

Hi all.. well it’s a big day today another trip to goodwill. Yikes my poor back... still sorting years of stuff, collections, paintings and @#%*.... been watching the videos on homes that are so packed with so much stuff from floor to ceiling. Hoarding . I admit I am OCD and can’t tolerate anything out of place in every room ... so my home is neat and clean...So...All my stuff is just all tucked/stuffed into drawers closets ...OMG .. the things we keep thinking some day I will need this. “Not”... taken three car loads and it so freeing...

I donated my 1978 corvette to a charity for the homeless in my sons name who passed last year. They sold it yesterday. Made enough to help a little. It was in excellent condition/ low mileage. I was saving it for my son who loved it and I kept it in excellent condition for years. Hoping some day he will get better......not everything goes along with our hopes and prayers . So lately been adjusting to the reality of just letting it go! That doesn’t mean I forget and I have better days than opposite these days.

Oh my goodness we have a cold front from Alaska coming thru... I hope we don’t get ice storms... just when I was happy the winter has been so mild. Not a freeze yet...

And the gardening is only inside pots have several tropical plants inside for years. Bird of paradise, corn plants, etc... some are getting way to big. For those of you that are familiar with corn plants one of mine bloomed after 22 years. Very chocking and the fragrance roars thru the whole house and it is overwhelmingly sweet. They are the plants that resemble corn plants literally, hort name ‘dracaena’.

I forced amaryllis bulbs and they are all so beautiful. Wish I could share the joy of their huge 6”-8” blooms with you all. The garden is dormant this time of year. And it’s nice to get a break from constant weeding, moles, voles, deer, watering, mowing... well you know the drill....ugh! It has kept me sane for many years.

Stay warm, healthy and 😊 happy...

Hi all,

Thanks for the support after my dog, Sid, passed away. I have his ashes now and am planning on taking him back to the animal sanctuary in Kanab, Utah, where I got him, to bury him. He spent most of his life there so I think it is appropriate. But the vet made me a clay paw print to remember him by. I will be heading out to Utah on Friday via my house in Monticello. I haven't been there for 4 months so I want to make sure everything is OK. I also want to spend a little time away from my kitten so I can crochet without him attacking the yarn.

When I go the the animal sanctuary I am planning on adapting another dog. I didn't have Sid long enough to feel like I need a break.

No chance of planting anything outside here until Memorial Day as we always have late frosts or snow. My latest thing is succulents. We have a south facing window and this time of year, when the sun is low, they are very happy there.

Stay warm/dry/cool, everyone

"Mom" is responding to the antibiotic treatment but they couldn't get the liver biopsy done yesterday...too much fluid in the abdomen after a student attempt to draw it out...will try again today and maybe get the other mass biopsy done, too.

Cat is good for a few days, then crashes again. Time for the vet.

My senior cat seems to think my Clown amaryllis bulb is an egg and she is a hen. She keeps sitting on it! Has broken two leaves already. Aargh! Will have to find a different place for the plant as they are competing for the sunbeams.

What a nice vet to make a paw print for you, lovely memory. I always find it so difficult to loose a pet. They are the ones that stand by us thru thick and thin. Now with phone pics and videos always good for pics of our furry kids. Sending blessings your way. I hope the vet can Seymour kitty and help her out.

Cat sleeping on amaryllis bulb.. definitely thinks she’s a chicken for soaking up warm rays. Maybe put a plastic barrier over it. Amaryllis are so beautiful. One of my fav bulbs. Clown or peppermint amaryllis are a cherry faced flower when in bloom. I luv...and Succulents are stars with so many beautiful colors. They can be delicate as they tend to hop out of their pots when they get big.

Karen no problem ... it hard not to mention politics it’s always everywhere.... Sending lots of hugs your way...
As long as I have been here that’s the first time I got to that place.... ugh...
Any snow up in your area yet. It’s been windy here.I hear it’s been windy for you too.Lost power last night due to wind. Had to set all the clocks this am.

I have to remind myself to focus on the “now”and being present, for that is the true key to getting thru the day in a good place. Sometimes I feel pushed but I need to remind myself that life isn’t a race or a competition. Since my sons death I have been able to set my own pace without worrying what’s going to happen next. It’s been a combination of ups and downs with some twists and turns that has given me more strength and resolve.

Have a nice day and “Let theSunshine In”. Oh wait isn’t that a song? Do you remember what group recorded it...?

Hi Chotti,

Thanks for understanding. The country is topsy tervy right now. It is hard. Feel free to email me if you want to chat about things.

We have snow. Last night we got freezing rain. Everything was ice this morning. My husband had to postpone his doctor appointment. Our weather has been on the fence of rain or snow lately. I think I would rather have it a little colder and snow than have it rain and freeze.

Things have been slow here. Not going anywhere or doing much. Maybe a therapy session here and there or shopping. I will be glad when it is over. The virus. Wonder if it will ever be.

Let the sunshine in, face it with a grin.

Hugs, Karen...
