Hey Trina,

Thanks for starting a new daily thread. Stay safe from the winter storm. We lucked out and missed it. Yay...

Hope you don't have to shovel too much.

Sun is trying to come out here. With all the snow it makes you snow blind when it comes out. Get the shades out.

Have a good day everybody!!!

Hugs, Karen...

I got word last night that my ex-husband's widow (my kids step mother) passed away. We'd known each other since Kindergarten...grew up together...which in some ways made it easier for me to deal with her being such a big part of my children's lives. Same age. Same neighborhood. Same schools. Ha! Same husband. We weren't exactly 'friends' but it's still a bit sobering to know she's gone. I'm sad for her children and granddaughters.

Enjoy this life...as much as you can...while you can. It is so fleeting.

A Nor'Easter heading for my part of the world. Snow has already begun. Expecting 10-18 inches, but probably less right where I am close to the shore. My biggest fear is power outages. I've got my flashlights and battery powered radio...have to make sure the phone is charged up before I sleep. Not looking forward to the wind gusts. I'll check in as I can.

many healing thoughts.

Dealing with mum and sister (scammer)....and mums funds. 500 for mum to go shopping this fri!
put an official hold on those funds being released.
Am arranging, well other sis an appt with mgt and trustee on fri.
Gave her all the contact details from the group mgr i chatted with today,
and we will get a print out of all withdrawn funds.
Mum is in and out of psychosis, and sis exploits and not tells us when she is advised.
We require a POA. So the @#$% storm begins, but it must end.
Was good seeing mum today.

Bro in melb, sis and her s.o to drive down fri, Joel can visit mum and see my place for the first time.
Needed to vent. HT

Vent away Jamie.

How dare that sister do that. If I know you well enough, no charges will be filed. I wouldn't either. Getting a trust worthy POA and be done.

Stay calm when the stuff hits the fan, let the sis get worked up, you are doing the right thing, deserve to be calm for it is what it is now. Cash cow has run dry!!

I have not shovel except for part of patio and a path to the trees and ivy in the back yard. Doodle is particular
about where she does her business. The scares her, my heart breaks.

As of 6pm we have 4 inches. had sleet and snow stop for a while. Snowing again. Do da do da...lol.

Pitmom, it is amazing what we can tolerate and live with. You just never know what will come your way.

peace all.

Agreed, wise words to live by. Some open their eyes with seconds left to live...

I hope all of you located towards the east coast make it through the snowstorm. The reports and pictures coming back already are impressive to say the least.

All we've got here on the northwest coast is rain thus far. That's lucky, since even a minor coating of snow tends to snarl traffic and reveal how few have ever driven in those conditions.

Hope all of you in the east are faring OK with the storm. The wind just kicked up here before the storm we are supposed to get tomorrow night. Who knows how much, they are always wrong, it seems, so I just take what comes. My son did manage to find the top of my Weber grill, which had blown away in the last storm.

Sid's ashes are all neatly buried in the pet cemetery in Kanab Utah. I did this more for his caregivers there at the sanctuary than me because I don't believe the soul stays with the remains. I said good bye to Sid the day he died. But it was a nice little ceremony and everyone seemed pleased. I took Della with me and spent a few days in Monticello Utah but it snowed the whole time, so no hiking. Turns out Della has separation anxiety and she did quite a bit of damage in the hotel room in Kanab when I went out for dinner. Not a real happy trip this time, although I did get to crochet with out little claws interfering.

Hello ...

Such a nice day having sunshine today really lifts my spirit. It been a stormy few days snow is so pretty. Lickly not too much no snow shoveling.

The dogs and I went out and we trained around the yard running and obedience. Still working on the doggie battery buttons recordings. When a cookie ball is up for grabs the cookie ball recording on the button she pops the top of the yellow button. When she want to go out and run run run as the recording says on that black button she pops that one. Now working on the next button red. Do ya want a go see? Is recorded on the red one. So now there are 3 buttons to choose red, yellow and black.

Stay safe healthy and happy.

One moment at a time HT. You are doing what needs to be done though I know it isn't pleasant. Keep hanging in there.

Do things to calm yourself. You have the power.

Jamie,

Sometimes life takes a difficult turn. But it isn't for nothing. You now know that your mum wont be taken advantage of. Often in these situations we see sides of people that aren't so nice. Life will go on and things will get better. Though I am so sorry for what you are going through. Take a deep breath. Things are going to start getting easier. The hardest part is over.

Hi all...sorry I went MIA. Had to do alot of shoveling, so pain is up. Had to do alot of emailing, too. Plowing was horrible here.

'Mom' completed her first week of chemo with few side effects, so it looks promising. One more week and then a week off. Three rounds of this and then another CT scan.

Scheduled my own mamogram and bone density test for Monday, then a screening for Abdominal Aortic Aneurism (what my Mom died from). Insurance can't find me a local doc for the colonoscopy so that may have to wait a bit for all of this other testing...then I'll see if I can change my insurance plan back to Medicare.

My dog Tyson (was my daughters, she left him with me) may have a condition called DM. Sort of like MS for dogs. Vet scheduled for Friday. If I'm right, there's nothing they can do about it, no treatment, so we'll just keep doing what we've been doing and I'll keep him as happy and comfortable as I can for as long as I can. Some dogs have lived to the age of 14 with it...so I have hope!

More snow coming tomorrow...and Tues...and Thurs...oh, my!

Hi Pitmom,

So happy to hear that "Mom" is doing better. I hope that the chemo helps.

Sorry to hear that Tyson may have DM. I think I have heard of that before on the german shepherd site on facebook. I hope he will be okay. You are so kind to be helping everybody through things. It isn't easy.

I hope you have a good day today. Cold here in Michigan. -1 right now. It is going to be cold for about a week and then HOPEFULLY a warm up.

Take care all!!!

It was snowing when I woke up & didn’t stop until late afternoon. Funny thing is it went right to melting which is nice , then lite misting rain but the remainder will freeze hard as the colder arctic air moves in tonite. Icy roads and elec lines. Got the generator set out and gas all set just in case...

Good day to stay in & catch up on some projects anyway if possible. Just easy stuff like drawers and no ladders.

Right implant has slipped and back on Walker again. I need another revision . I cannot do it yet. To many nightmares on the last three...Major bummer.

And the good news is Roxie the border collie is learning a new button to push for outside.

Sending good vibes to everyone.

We got another 4.5 inches of snow. This round was wetter and heavier so I went out several times to shovel it. So much pain!!! Just another reminder that I can never return to working. Need to get my head away from those thoughts!

Lisa and I argued again last night...about me helping my daughter again. I guess, because she never had children of her own, she just will never understand that I will always feel responsible to help when I can. Her car is shot, she's supposed to start a new job this week and needs transportation...my neighbor is selling his car...great price (for me)...needs less work than daughter's car. I know Lisa doesn't think my daughter appreciates all I do or have done for her...but I see it as 'typical' and at least they are out of my house now. If she can't work, just how long will her housemates put up with that?? Vicious cycle. I can pay for the car today but motor vehicle office is closed for President's Day. One step at a time, right?

Hope everyone is having a peaceful 24 hrs.

Chotti,

I am sorry about the implant slipping and having to go back to your walker. I hope that this gets remedied soon.

Your dog sounds so interesting. And smart, though border collies are very intelligent.

Pitmom,

I see nothing wrong with helping your daughter out, but I would make it a loan instead of outright giving to her. I know you love her and want to help as much as possible, but she needs to learn responsibility and I think paying you back would be a good way. But you are right, worrying never ends with children. But I think making her pay you would back would be good for her in the long run.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Cold here, in single digits today.

Hugs, Karen...
