I'm gonna take her flowers to tomorrow😅 Good to hear she is zipping around!

Woke up, can get back to sleep.

Still no C-PTSD group that "works" on our trauma, constant factor in most abuse groups, fall apart as soon as soon as the brave person opens up.

Then that persons negative thoughts get reinforced. The conditioning factor.

Someday it will be broken early enough for groups to work.

We've already discussed payback for the car. She'll be getting her taxes back pretty quickly and I can wait. She hasn't been working much after falling down the stairs at work, having to go to physical therapy and it was part time, retail, which doesn't pay much as it is. The job she's going for is school bus driving again, since the kids will be returning to in person classes soon.

Both of my parents were dead by the time I was 35 years old. I know what it's like to be 'on your own' with no help from anyone. As long as I have breath, I will help my children if I can.

Sounds like she's in a tough spot. I am glad she will be able to pay you back when she gets her taxes. I only said what I did because I know it is hard not to enable. But it sounds like she is trying. I remember what you have said in the past about her addictions. I just want you to look out after you too.

I know how hard it is when you can't help your children so I am glad you are able to. I hope she gets to drive school bus. It takes a special kind of person to endure that. I myself would probably be pulling my hair out. I have a friend who drives school bus. I think she must have nerves of steel.

Do you still have snow? Or did it melt? Do you have anything growing outside? I forgot, you aren't there. I hope all is well and that "Mom" is doing well.

Hugs, Karen...

Karen and Trina thank you for your concern . Hip replacement surgery has been a 30 year struggle for me. Yes you can walk again with diseased bone removed, but it’s always a daily painful struggle all the time. Even thru many years after . It’s exhausting. Everything is done differently believe me it’s not like the bionic tv show once the joint is replace all is well. Well it’s never quite that easy. Praying time will hopefully be on my side to wait till it’s safe and had my covid vaccine before another revision. Then another year for recovery. This will be a fourth hip replacement surgery.UUG! I’m not sure I have another one left in my resolve to brave thru another. These revisions are brutal.

My oldest son has kidney stones again. Hoping he will be ok. He lives on the east coast in Florida and no snow storms there. My grandson is on the American athletic in-line skating team and will be off to Columbia to compete in a race. It’s crazy. I don’t feel comfortable with him traveling but he seems to be doing ok. His thighs are huge OMG.... bigger around than my waist ... believe it or not.

Any one having trouble sleeping more than usual? I read everyone is have serious sleeping issues and they are blaming it on covid worries.min stead of insomnia they have renamed it ‘Covidsomnia’. I finally got to sleep at 7am.

Woke up to an additional 3” or more of snow and ice today, not that we really needed any more.
My nice neighbor across the road plowed the long driveway for us again so I baked them cinnamon rolls as a thank you . They have two young boys so I know the rolls are appreciated.

This storm has literally hit most of the country. Sending many blessing for everyone to stay warm, safe and healthy.

Hugs 🤗

Wow Chotti,

I didn't realize what you were going through with hip replacement. I hope and pray it gets better. Living with daily struggles like that is difficult.

I hope your grandson is safe traveling. I understand your concern.

You have a kind neighbor. I bet they loved the cinnamon rolls. We've been getting plowed but the guy didn't push the snow back enough so it is building up each time he plows. Hoping we get a thaw and some will melt.

Take care and have a great day.

Hugs, Karen...

So it is 1 degree in Denver and 30 degrees up here. That is because we are on the very western edge of this storm and it can't make it up the hill. I am not complaining.

Chotti, I am so sorry that your hip replacement(s) have been such a trouble for you. I hope this revision is the last and that it works much better than the last ones.

Going back to work has not made me feel much better. My supervisor has decided to review all of my work and nit pick on little details. I just paste on a smile and say "yes, sir", but it is galling because I have been doing this longer than he has and he never used to do this. So, since my anger has no where to go, I get depressed. I spent the morning yelling at a bed frame I was trying to put together when it turned out that the piece I was having trouble with was upside down. Heavy sigh. My animal seem happy though.

Karen the snow plows snow so high across driveways it buries everything it the path , some have to did out their cars on the city streets. I am so tired of snow when we moved here from Colorado I was so relieved no snowy winters here. Then every once in awhile we get these crazy snow and ice storms here, even California has had snow . We have had a lot of rain and snow this year and with that comes landslides from the areas where the wild fires last summer left nothing in its wake. Roads washed out and mud slides covering miles of land . Climate change has been so extreme the past few years.

Still waiting for covid clinics and areas to recover from this storm . Everything is shut down airports, trains, roads are icy and lots of hills here and cars are like bumper cars trying to get up or down even small hills. Everyone is staying home to be safe for sure.

Buena sorry that you have to endure such behaviors from work. I think your handling it well. It’s nice your beautiful doggie can be so much comfort. They do bring so much to our lives. And since you missed this Arctic front how lucky !
I lived in Colorado thru some really horrid snow storms , driving was so scarey. I honestly don’t know how I drove in all that snow and white out conditions.

Many blessing sent to all . Stay safe, warm healthy and happy! 🤗

Have you asked or do you know if you are on probation?

On the bright side, nothing will be distributed with what boss would deem a mistake.

Hello all. Had a coating of ice yesterday/last night...dogs have a skating rink instead of a run today.

Daughter has my truck for a little while...motor vehicle offices are 'by appointment only' and the earliest I could get for the car I bought her isn't until March 1st. I have a bunch of neighbors that will take me to the store if needed and Lisa comes down on the weekend, too, so I'm okay without for a bit. Of course, she'll have to bring it back for the day I have the appointment. Now, I have to work out how to get the 'new' car to the shop, so it can be fixed and made road worthy, so as soon as it's registered and insured we can swap vehicles and she'll be on her own.

Hope everyone knows they are loved today, Valentine's Day...best wishes to all!

Do you have a community website

Try https://nextdoor.com

Just have to enter your community, township, etc...can't imagine you are not connected to it.

Post a " I NEED A CAR TOWED "post
And see who answers you will get many, so many people out of work
You are smart as a whip so if no tow truck, you know about tow bars etc...

Best of luck !!
Peace

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Just found out that my mom is thinking of putting her dog down. He is very old, deaf and blind. To top it off, he has a bad ear infection.

I don't want to see him go, but I don't want him to suffer either. It's hard because he is a part of the family. This makes me so weary about getting a dog. I would get to upset if they got sick, etc.

Anyway, hope everyone had a good weekend.

Chotti,

The snow plows fill in our driveways too. Seems like just after we have had the driveway plowed. Typical for here. Frustrating though.

Pitmom,

I thought you were living with Lisa. Maybe that was temporary. How is "Mom"? I hope she is well or feeling better.

Forever,

I am sorry to hear about your mom's dog. It is so hard when we have to put down our furbabies. And it is usually for the right reasons. We don't want to see them suffer.

I hope everybody has a nice day. Cold here. 3 degrees.

Take care all...

Hugs, Karen...

First, I had a 'nextdoor' account but there were password problems, so I don't use it anymore. I know tow companies, just don't know if they'll tow it before it's registered to me.

Second, Lisa and I have been together for 17 years...we just don't live together. For starters, she will not move out of her mother's house because her mother doesn't like living alone (she did briefly after the middle child got married). I had my adult daughter and grandson here with me...and all of the pets. Lisa's Mom will not allow my pets to 'move in' with them at the house...so, for the foreseeable future, we continue to just see each other on the weekends and a little extra time in the summers. It's unusual, but it works for us.

Garden report: Everything outside is covered with snow! Nice insulation and when it melts, it will be a nice deep watering for my Spring bulbs. Inside is getting exciting! I have one amaryllis about to bloom with a second bud coming up on the same plant! Four other plants also have buds in early stages. I think one of them is Naranja, an orange flower, which has never bloomed for me yet! If I'm right, it will be a first for me! My Rex begonia is blooming again! Such lovely little pink 'cups' against the gray/green swirled leaves! Makes washing dishes a little more enjoyable to look over and see it on the kitchen counter.

I'll be taking the Valentine's decor down soon and arranging some green and white for St. Patrick's Day. Love changing up the items on the shelf in the living room...it helps me know that time is actually passing. My days tend to drag on, seemingly endless with so much the same each day. Very little variation in my life just now. I can't change what the weather is doing, but I can 'refresh' what I see inside my home!

Good afternoon to all healing well friends...
Chilly & cloudy ahead of yet another ice storm due here soon. We certainly do not need anymore but that’s what we’re getting. The ice and snow is heavy on trees, roofs and power lines are giving way. Prayers for those who have endured losses from this storm. It’s a once in a lifetime storm across the whole nation. I think we all have a lot to share with grand and great grand kids we all survived a lot in the past few years not to mention personal issues and losses . Yes it shows just how strong we all really are!

I decided to make a quick run to the grocery store ahead of this weather, can’t run out of decaf or something, haha!! I read on a Weather Channel FB post last night that April & May are going to be warmer than usual. The warm up may even begin the 2nd half of March. I guess it won’t be long before we’re out there gardening again
I would like to get all my indoor plants out as well . And the huge pots usually kept outside all season I brought in due to the extreme cold weather. I hope I didn’t haul in to many bugs . Put up extra grow lights. I already have orchid collection and many tropicals that I have had for years. So brought in my geranium , hibiscus, fuchsia and succulent collections. It’s amazing how these plants tend to multiply in numerous pots over the years.

I seem to collect plants more than the average Joe. I guess they are so easy to grow in this zone. I spent many years taking care of kids my kids his kids , grandkids and parents when older. Working and never had time for anything else. Now I’m spending time taking care of things I enjoy.

Lots of bulbs ready to pop once the snow melts.
Stay happy, healthy and out of trouble...🤗

Hi everyone ,
Nice to hear an uplift of mood in posts, warms my ❤ heart.

Chotti, I see, the unpredictability of weather, as a daily adventure! We all will soon learn to dress in layers, be prepared.

Don't know if everyone is having problems with mold in bird feeders, we are in NJ
surrounding states.

Here's some points on feeding that most people do not realize. Like myself with suet cakes
this is not political article. It is
about birds.

Peace

Trina ... Nice article about feeding our fair feathered friends. I always have birds and hummers that over winter around my area every year. Thank you for the great info. It also mentioned feeding deer... The deer I don’t feed they think my garden offers them many delicacies as the come to their private salad bar designed just for their friends and families. OMG the plants they have devoured over the years.... roses, dahlias, iris the list goes on.

I absolutely agree that staying busy and hobbies help thru winters. I paint pics of flowers and floral arrangement hobbies and have a small heated greenhouse I work in winters. I still have quite a few amaryllis flowering inside I force the bulbs to flower every year.

Every thing in the garden is buried under 8” of snow right now. Last time we had a severe cold storm like this was about 15 years ago I lost a lot of plants in the garden. On the bright side I’ll have a good excuse to get new plants.

Where is everybody?

Hi Chotti,

I have an orchid blooming right now. Yellow with pink lines and centers. I love it so much. My favorite orchid. I have a miniature getting ready to bud. It is white. I have a mini pink one too but over watered it so it is lagging.

We got snow lasts night again. I am hoping March and April are warm here. We have been in a cold spell right now. It hopefully will end by Wednesday. I hope...

Have a good day all.

Pitmom, I must of misunderstood. I thought you went to stay with Lisa while your kids were home. My mistake.

Again, take care all.

Trina thanks for sharing the link.

Just came in from playing with the dogs. Had to climb into one of the flower beds that collected several over the summer and got to see that the crocus foliage is coming up! I just love looking for these encouraging signs!

I've been spending a lot of time on facebook...mostly helping people surprised by cold temps learn how to thaw their pipes. They're not used to these lows and are mostly unprepared. I know firsthand how upsetting it can be to discover the pipes and sometimes even the waste lines are frozen! NJ had to deal with this Polar Vortex not too many years ago and many lessons were learned by myself and my neighbors. Glad to pass the experience along.

The amaryllis continue to do well. Five so far have buds and another has a swell that I expect a bud to emerge from soon. Did I already mention that my Rex is blooming again? It actually smelled like Spring yesterday.

Greenie, thanks for the affirmation that I'm not the only one! My neighbor's son also has a long term relationship with his girl but they've no plans to move in together anytime soon. It seems to work well for quite a few of us. Maybe we have the 'secret' to successful long term relationships!

Karen your orchids sound beautiful. Isn’t it nice to have blooming flowers smiley faces every day to cheer us up. Nothing like a beautiful floral bloom to set the day in positivity. 😊

Pitmom your garden sounds lovely . Can’t wait to hear more about your garden and you must have a green thumb too!

Thanks to the Arctic front weather conditions across the country has been unprecedented. The weather is getting better the next few days as most of the country thaws out. It’s hard to imagine that parts of this country have had to experience rolling blackouts due to lack of local energy to cover the needs of states that have not elected to be involved with energy grids that cross state boundaries to share stored energy. How crazy that we see so many times how unprepared this country is when it comes to emergencies.

On the bright side the sun is out today and most of the snow and ice has melted and the bulbs in the garden are sending up leaves and soon they will be blooming . Now that’s a good sign. Fingers crossed 🤞 no more storms.

Sending good vibes to all.
Hugs 🤗

Hi Trina,

Dispensaries charge way too much. I wish you could find a legal grow that would give you a better deal.

Hi Chotti, I Love my orchids. Brightens things up.

I hope you all are having a good day today. Cloudy here though the sun is trying really hard and it is warming up a bit. It has been so cold.

Take care all...

Hi all,
The weather here is pretty standard for February in the mountains. I don’t have any exotic indoor plants but my succulents are all still alive, which is an achievement in itself. My Christmas tree is still up. I put away the ornaments but I like the white lights and the kitten likes to sleep in his bed underneath it. I crochet while he naps - it’s great to be able to do this again. I am making a piano shawl for no particular reason. I had one of my grandmother’s that I played with as a child but it is long gone. Mine is just a giant granny square but with baby weight yarn and a big hook, it looks lacy. Better day at work today - no nit picking.
