Hi just require some friendly advice.
Can I firstly say that I am receiving the advice of my doctor . In particular regarding this taper of Lithium which I will embark on very soon.
I'm an unipolar , not Bipolar, and somehow ended up on Lithium 8 months ago.
Ìt is agreed that I taper, although I'm not happy at the speed I have to do it.
I'm on 800mg.
Would like to do 10% per month as is best practice it seems.
My doc seems OK with 20%
Anyway, what are your opinions on this?
Has anyone( non- bipolar) tapered Lithium succèssfully?
What were the withdrawals?
Did the taper affect sleep? Ps I'm on Mirtazipine 15 also.

Welcome. I think you should listen to your doctor and see how it goes. Sometimes, I think larger tapers are successful at the start and when one is at a lower dose it gets a little trickier and the amount must be smaller, but you will have to see how it affects you. Please update us.

Yes , consulting doctor but of course always great to get insights of real people! You are right, I think I would expect more trouble with say, Mirtazipine, which Is at 15mg and a tiny tablet.
Anyways, I'm sure I can get my doctor to consider a 10% taper. But of course, will respect his judgement.

Hi Fer78,

Welcome to the depression forum. I agree about following doctor's advice. If it is too much you will know it and can always slow it down. But I would also let the doc know your concerns.

I wish you the best with tapering off. Let us know how it goes.

Hugs, Karen...

Welcome Fer78,

Trusting your doc is good.

However, listen to your body if you do not feel right, write down symptoms, if they worsen, over what amount of time

If you are concerned, call your doc.

Do not be afraid tell doc your are going to go 10%. Let us know how you are doing!

Best of luck!
