Ok, I've posted recently about Tapering Lithium. But I realise I might well have to consider the other drug I take, Mirtazipine.
The reason I have considered tapering is due to horrible side effects- I truly cannot tell which med is the cause - Lithium or Mirtazipine.

I am having totally awful side effects. Grogginess, inability to get up, total * and I mean total lack of libido, heaviness and lethargy.By the way, at night , it feels like I am heavily sedated and my sleep is far from refreshing. Takes me most of the day to rise "out of the fog"

Clear of depression - this is TOTAL side effects.
As I explained on a previous post, my doc has suggested I taper LITHIUM.
I'm unipolar by the way, I was put on it as a last resort. Now, however, I'm beginning to suspect that Remeron is the guilty party here. Although I take a small dose, 15mg, while Lithium is 800mg.

Nothing beats medical advice, and I will talk to my doctor next week.
I'd just love some opinions from real people and I find this site very useful.

I stopped remeron due to sleepiness. It was relentless. I tried it for awhile thinking I would get used to it, but I didn't. So I went off. I would try tapering off of that first. See what happens. There are many other good antidepressants.

Best wishes.

Talk to your doc.

Hugs, Karen...

Thanks ! Problem. Is I'm getting a double whammy of Mirtaz + Lithium. Both horrible.

Thanks ! Do you take it every night?
I'm stuck on 15mg, might go to 7.5mg to see how I sleep.

I hope you find what works for you. Something that wont make you sleep during the day. I used to take ambien for sleep. But they don't like to prescribe it anymore. I now meditate. There is nothing like the feeling of being able to get yourself to fall asleep at night without drugs. Maybe you can learn to meditate.

Hugs, Karen...
