Hey everybody,
Have you ever had one of those days where you just think to yourself "I JUST WANT TO QUIT SEEING MY DOCTOR !" Know what I mean ? You put it off as long as you can because you know how devestating it's going to be to have one of those days. The morning consist of testing, while the afternoon consists of appointments, and the evening consist of you phoning due to appointments and recieving calls from the appointments, and the day ends with negative news, new medication, another diagnosis, more visits, and new doctors to see . After calapseing in a devastated heap while regreating the whole day. You think to yourself "I know I need to see my doctor but "I JUST WANT TO QUIT SEEING MY DOCTOR ! " Has anyone other than me had one of those days ? Where all you want is for it to JUST STOP! It's just so devastating and tiresome that you wanna quit. After years of doctors telling you to stop crying wolf you grow afraid to talk and quit. By the time you find someone to listen it's too late! You and your body are to tired due to the years of medical wear-n-tear. All you can do is think of the medical years past as well as the medical years to come and wonder where you can find the strength ! IT"S NOT THERE ! IT"S GONE ! It's why you stopped talking and gave up years ago. Depression is not where you want to go again but you remember why you went there years ago and relize the other problem now. YOUR REPEATING ! UGH ! You swore you would never do this again! UGH ! You know the next move is important and you know that if not handled properly you'll just find yourself here again! You drop your head and remind yourself "YOU CAN''T GO THERE AGAIN !" What do you do?
"I JUST WANT TO QUIT SEEING MY DOCTOR !" If your out there, any encouragement or words of wisdom and advice on how to deal with one of these never ending days, as well as any ideas on how to not repeat would be greatly appriciated right about now. Thank you one and all.
P.S. A joke to brighten your spirit for the rest of the day.
Why can't a bicycle stand on it's own?
It's two tired!
P.S.S. Stay safe ,Take care, and remember "if you think that you are too small to make a difference try sleeping with a mosquito."

I am so sorry you have had a long and exhausting day. It sounds like you need a โ€œ doctor breakโ€. Are you well enough to not see one for 2 weeks?

Dr. Burn out happens. Esp with those with a plethora of health probs.

Go in when ya need to.
Have learnt that for me is to
Make a double appt every couple of months with my gp.

Shrink quarterly. Zoom.
Endo 6 monthly. I pass all my reports to all....saves the explanation. I just add a cc to all pathology scans etc

Zoom chat ya dr. ....
Something Australia has adopted...telehealth. Tired exhausted...hit the button.

Keep strong. Let ya dr know...
It all helps....them human too. Not being critical or judgemental.

I myself have a grumpy endo...a revered prof...the best...and he scares the you know what out of me. He tiny i aint!

The other day six month review...all my blooda etc. All good he's happy...i said see ya in six months...he quibbed...hang on don't want to talk to me? I did but brief.

He is the best....no mess about...i have softened him up...he on e said i jave to keep up my persona!

Drs have real rough days as well....so they get it....
But they have the Hippocratic oath of to protect our health.

I go when i need to. I reach out if i need to. Had a dr call me to come in on a sunday once bevause i had been away too long.

Keep ๐Ÿ’ช. HT

Thank you both for responding,
I want to thank Buena 76 for the few but many words. You've reminded me that I'm lucky to have these days as only a terrible reminder of how bad it is when dealt with on a day to day basis. Thank you again for responding !
Hello (HT), I want to thank you for all the advice as well as reminding me that I'm lucky to finally have good doctors that I like . The reason it's been such a mess lately is because these doctors have actually listened and made it a point to take care of things. I got along well enough with the outher doctors but got tired of feeling like they didnt listen and kept me busy chasing my tail.By the way I got a kick out of Dr. Burn out. Thanks again for responding.
P.S. A joke Why did the scarecrow get promoted? Because he was outstanding in his field

Hi Goldengirl,

I know how you feel. I went quite awhile without seeing a doctor. Almost a year. Actually my doctor kind of disappeared. I guess he took a leave of absence at the beginning of covid and nobody has heard from him since. If they did, they aren't telling. Just seems real strange to me. I saw the other doc last week. I have a lot of catching up to do. I did get blood work and they said it is good. I want a copy of it so I have to go in and sign for it. That will get me out of the house once again. Not that I want to but I need to. Been cooped up far too long. With the winter weather and cold, and covid, I don't go out much at all.

Have a good day, or what's left of it.

Hugs, Karen...

PS Your name looks familiar but just in case, welcome to the forum.

Hi Goldengirl,

While I don't have anything 'complicated' I have been very frustrated lately. I changed insurance so I could get dentures...but also had to leave the doctor I'd been seeing for years (finally had him 'trained' lol) and the new doctor ordered a bunch of tests. Mamo, okay. Bone density, okay. Colonoscopy, umm, okay, yeah, sure. Ultrasound to screen for AAA, yep, sure! Call to schedule colonoscopy...they don't take my insurance. Bone density...they call me to tell me doc didn't use the right code so it's not authorized. At least I got the mamo done (all good by the way) and ultrasound (also all good). Just so irritating!!

That being said...my adult daughter went through the medical wringer getting diagnosed with a rare disease...Cushing's Disease...caused by a pituitary tumor. So many doctors only focus on one or two of the symptoms...diabetes and weight gain/obesity...but are unwilling to search for the cause. Meanwhile, these patients experience hair loss, acne, muscle wasting (the heart is a muscle!), bone thinning, connective tissue problems, insomnia, depression, reproductive problems and more! She finally got her diagnosis and had her surgery and now we're fighting once again for testing of Adult Growth Hormone Deficiency, which is common in people that have had surgery or injury to the pituitary gland. They're still so focused on her weight and diabetes!! The thing is...no medication will help if it's stemming from the GLANDS!! She'll go 'off grid' for a while...so exhausted from the battle for proper care. She'll get her strength back and get 'back in the ring' for another round with the doctors eventually. Hugs to you!

Hello pitmom,
Don't you just love the insurance game ! The morning after I spent the day considering a second insurance myself. I got very lucky, my new doctor is very good and trains very well. (LOL!) My new doctor did testing that kept me busy for a year and the more they tested the more they found. I'm sorry your daughter's experianceing an unwillingness to search for the cause. My mother always worried about that with me. It has taken me a entirely new set of doctors to understand what she ment. It still feels weird to call my new GP's office and have them calling back later that afternoon begging me to come in the next day because they're afraid somethings wrong. ( The sad part is they always find something when I do) I hope she recoveres well from surgery and is victorious in the next battle to come. I wish the best to the both of you and thank you for replying. Your stories are full of inspiration. Thank you again. Take care and stay safe.

Welcome GoldenGirl:

As you can see you landed in a friendly understanding place! Best part, 98% of the time someone gets exactly how you feel.

Like this! Neuro, Pain doc works together in same facility
Pain doc shares info with neck ortho doc

GP is a rebel and likes family med. I see him for thyroid

Last month I felt just like you described

So I decided even if it is a run to the drug store, I take the time to stop somewhere that enjoy.

Example...
Stop at Goodwill, thrift stores check their
Books outs

I doc office 30min away has a Whole foods across the street.
After appointment I buy myself some goodies

The adventure becomes the priority, doc visit, means to an end...

Peace

Trina, I really like that idea of making just 'part' of a day out. When I go with my daughter to her appointments an hour away (longer for her now that she's moved), we usually stop at the diner on the way home...but this last time, it was closed due to covid...waah!

Hello Bnot Afraid,
I believe that was part of my problem with this last long day. Along with everything else my transportation recently changed so I was also unable to have my day out to lighten the blow.

Pitmom. Golden.

Thats the thing being able to cope with the times when our fav outings are forced to be changed.

Had appointment this am. We were supposed be cloudy, upper north Jersey was to the weather

So snowing heavy on way there
Raining in sheets when I left

Not stops on way on...could not wait to get home and take my narcotic. Pain was at a 10.
Now I am thinking, I am going thru "book sales" with draw!!!
Would love, just 1. Just 1 book sale please!!!!
It will have to have to wait...
Worse then not being able to eat peanut butter and/or chocolate ๐Ÿ˜•

Stay safe
Peace
