Hi everyone.

I am back from my trip to California. It was very relaxing, except for the drive, and it was good to see family. Oregon (where my son is) was amazingly green, especially compared to California

I came back to my yard being very green and lush (for Colorado). I still need to work on my flower bed, but I enjoy that. I can't really see if there is anything flowering out there because of the weeds but my little barrel cactus indoors is flowering and one of the succulents had a baby on the end of a leaf! I got a new battery and string for my weed whacker so I'll be out tomorrow evening to get the edges of the lawn trimmed.

I am feeling better after my trip and being back on Abilify. We have been having a heat wave and I have to be careful because my meds make me more prone to heat stroke. Maybe that's a good excuse to keep ice cream in the freezer!

Stay cool/warm

Hello all. Busy time of year for me. Sorry for my absence.

My daughter has been in and out of the hospital but they were unable to find out what made her so sick...some tests are still pending. She's home and improving now.

Tyson continues to deteriorate. I'm having to 'boost' him up the steps or onto the couch more and more...not good for my shoulder, but doing it anyway. He's such a loyal and loving dog!

The garden is going like gangbusters here. Each day there's a 'new' lily blooming! One canna is already on it's second blossoms and next up is one of my yellow ones. I've been enjoying the sugar snap peas already and the lettuce has been pulled (though some self rooted on the compost heap) so I've been enjoying that still, too! My cucumbers seem to have stalled, though. It got really hot and humid here for a bit (early) and then cooled off again. Only a handful of strawberries were rescued from some insect that has been nibbling on them. Will have to try a different spot for replanting and get a handle on this for next year.

Trina, she has 'underlying health conditions' and had a bad reaction to the second dose of Pfizer. Now, it seems she is reacting strongly to any germ she comes in contact with. I'm hoping things calm down for her. They gave her two kinds of antibiotics in the hospital and now she's battling with thrush...above and below! I feel so bad for her! I know not everyone reacts to the shots in a 'bad way', but for some I think it's more trouble than help. We'd looked into how others with her conditions were reacting before she made her decision and hoped for the best since her job was considering mandating it in order to continue working. Rock and a hard place, I guess. To each their own on the decision.

Trina...I love, love, love honeysuckle! The other morning, I was sitting outside on the bench, breathing in deeply of the air laden with the scents of honeysuckle and milkweed. Natures perfume! Heavenly!

I have 2 canna in bloom now. One red, one yellow. I've spread the plants around the yard this year and gave one of them to a neighbor. As much as I love them, I doubt I'll be bringing them all in this winter. It's so much work and I'm having a lot of shoulder issues. At this point, I'm not even sure I'll be bringing all of the amaryllis in at the end of the season either. That's a long way off, though and we'll just have to wait and see.

Yesterday was a little tough (Father's Day) but I got through it. Spent the day reading mostly. I like book series and can 'binge read'. The 10 books in this series are about life after losing power and communications...from the viewpoint of a 'prepper'...interesting to me. One of the books talks about a device to help cool the air (it takes place in Florida) and I'm always looking for ways to keep the house cool without increasing my electric bill. Looks like I have a new d.i.y. project to work on!

Hi all. Still busy in the garden. Today, I wrestled with New England False Grape vine in my main bed. The roots are entangled with the azalea, so I'll never be rid of it, but trying to keep it at bay at least. The cucumbers are finally taking off! My solo cherry tomato plant, too. I'm on my third planting of sugar snap peas and enjoying the harvest already. Second guessing the hardy kiwi vine, since I've read they can get out of hand and I'm already battling so many other vines...might pull it out and offer it to someone with more room/experience.

My day lilies have joined the symphony of plants. So have the purple cone flowers. The oak leaf hydrangea flowers are beginning to turn from white to pink, starting at the wider part and moving upwards to the tips. The butterfly bush is huge this year and loaded with buds and the mimosa tree, while dying slowly, is still giving me blooms this year! Tough little tree! Hard to see it struggle, but keep on keeping on. Quite the inspiration for me! Good think I have some saplings going to take over when it finally succumbs.

The turtle been sick, and still is, chest and ear infection, seen dr today, still fully blocked in right, asthma been bad last week, that's when the ear got angry from the chest. Had been eating a lot of prednisone, tried drops, pharmacist if no good dr, thus this morning i went. Am eating pred, bugger, wrecks the BSL, antibiotics and kick butt ear treatment, am doing better, a tad, still blocked.

Keep strong, really cold, winter is biting. Bike seat was keeping falling apart and off, took a lot of time, morre bolts n nuts, but it sorted, the new seat is a different confg to the stem. Bought a lined fluro jacket, lined, safety. Awaiting a decent helmet from Amazon. One of my cycling gloves fell out of my pocket last week, and i think i left my soft fluro vest at the library.

Employment lady quit, left me hanging last week, the manager called me two days later, totally dejected, twice now, and my cooking guy has moved on. My regular psychologist is sick, the stand in fell sick too, i said i will call back in a few weeks. Two support workers have been unwell as well, it happens, roll with it.
Have made a new friend, nice. Mum is okay, bar the nursing home doing funny business without my approval with mums finances; diplomatically i let the terse manager know about it; i am mums power of attorney for financial.

Keep strong everyone,
Love, HT

Interesting few days here. Thursday I went to my friend’s on the way home from Utah, put my dog in her back yard, went out to lunch and when we got back the dog was gone. After much searching, signs and social media postings, we found her yesterday afternoon, not too much worse for wear.

Lots of rain here in the past few days, great for the plants I recently put in - a Shasta daisy and a coreopsis. I haven’t planted my lavender and sage yet due to the trip to Utah and the dog hunt.

Thx trendy, hi all. B76, my former two fur things were massive escape artists, i mean brilliant.
Still blocked, but plugging along. Support worker helped adjust my mirror on bike, and we got some straps for bike locks in a satchel for the bike rack, perfect. Kick butt helmet arrived, and new cycling half finger gloves, really good. Awaiting a small cycling back pack with waist buckle.
Tool kit hung and secured over frame, including pump. Yeah it cold, sun was out for 2 hours, took a ride to the pharmacist. Did some washing, Chinese laundry happening!

Keep strong, HT

I was going to check mate.. I was up too!💛

Happy Independence Day All!
Would like to expand but can not as we know.

Coming out of a couple weeks darkness, varying shades.
Yesterday was my total melt down. Woke this am feeling much better.
Stronger.
Sent the following realized truth to the few people I allow close enough to help:

"Amazing gift friends, when you are sure the mind has given up;

It is only rebooting. Because now, unknowingly you yourself, have become a of part something else💛 that helps you and you help them.
Not words on a page anymore.
I'm smiling"

Enjoy your weekend, enjoy your circle of people. Unless dangerous or toxic, accept them with their idiosyncrasies and whatever else, for we all have them and luggage.
Peace All

Best July 4th wishes to everyone... hope your holiday goes well as we (hopefully) resume some sort of normalcy after the pandemic (and make headway towards solutions and recovery from all that ails us).

Hi all. Sorry for the absence. Busy time of year. The cucumbers are finally taking off and getting flowers. There are tomatoes forming on the vine. Fourth planting of sugar snap peas are growing nicely and I've planted some sweet corn for a late harvest. Might plant some bush beans as well.

The flowers are blooming like crazy. Several day lilies, the butterfly bush, some phlox in a shocking pink hue! The white blossoms of the oak leaf hydrangea are pinking up nicely, too! Purple cone flower has pretty much replaced the rose campion on center stage now.

I've found a source for paw paw trees. Trying to figure out where I can plant 2 of them within 5 feet of each other for pollination. Would really love to have these native trees here as a food source.

I've joined a fb group focused on 'prepping/off grid living' but can't spend a lot of time with it...it can make me anxious and bring me down...but so much good info on there for providing for myself more and more and how to store things better long term instead of tossing so much out in the trash. I'm not as worried about summertime storms as I am about winter. Loss of power would be really hard in those months.

Very wet here the last week or two, but the last two days have been dry and hot. The lawn is lush, the catmint is huge, even though I cut it in half this spring. I did some weeding in the neglected flower bed to see what was still there. I have two salvias, some delphiniums and foxglove and some sort of verbascum I planted years ago. I still have periwinkle and I just planted a Shasta daisy and coreopsis.

My little tire plantation did not do so well. I planted 3 lavenders and one sage in the tires and the lavender died. I think I may need to paint the tires white so it doesn't get the plants too hot from the sun on the black surface. But the sage is happy.

Job and pets are stable. I have been clearing some things out of the house and not buying too much to bring in so it looks a little less like a hoarder house. I did have a good score yesterday at Goodwill, though. I found 9 battery operated single tapers that you can put in candlesticks. I am always afraid I am going to burn the house down with the real thing.

Stay cool/warm, everyone
