I hope those who no longer post hear have found help and happiness in other places. I miss the activity we used to have, but am too worn and tired from Covid and the rest of life to carry the 'cheerleader' role. Best wishes to everyone, and peace.

HT, Hate to see you leave, but I understand. It is hard when nobody posts. Know that whatever happens, you have been a huge asset to this forum. You always give good advice and your posts are upbeat. That means a lot to how things go.

I really miss the way that it was too. I learned a lot here and made many friends.

Hi to everybody. I hope you all are doing well, as best as things can be. I know some of you are struggling, but brighter days are yet to come.

Hugs to all...

Well, change is the only consistency I know of.

That's it. Nothing else comes to mind
Peace all, but not out

Maybe some have "graduated" and are no longer beset by depression or other problems. At least that'd be the "optimistic" view.

The pessimistic view is that some don't have the energy or will to post. Depression can make it all seem pointless and not worth bothering.

Whatever the case may be, I hope all of us get to a better place at some point (hopefully for good!)

Yes Paul! I agree.

Some forums the are still active daily, I think will go on for years if Peter keeps it up and running.

I see no reason why he wouldn't.

This site has had a great run and did the job it was meant to.
Peace!

My son has suffered from bipolar for years. He has managed to hold down a job but has never married or had a family. ... all due to this illness. The way I see things. . .one of the problems in getting good treatments and more research is that many people who suffer look normal..My son is the average guy walking down the street..no one realizes the struggle just to get out of bed mornings and the constant disappointment felt when prescripition drugs may work for a time and then stop. . I could go on an on.

It is great that people are talking on this forum. Get your feelings out. . .you are not alone. Continue to inspire each other and don't give up on us. . . the rest of society. Keep getting your message out to lawmakers, health care providers etc.

Hang in,
Mrs. Tree lover

Hi Cindi (tree lover),

Welcome to the depression forum. This forum is slow, but still going. I am sorry to hear of your son's struggles. Being bipolar is difficult. So many struggles. But some get proper medications and do okay. My mother was bipolar but didn't take some of her meds and was difficult to deal with.

I hope you have a wonderful day and thanks for posting. We also have a bipolar forum if you would like to visit.

Hugs, Karen...

Welcome Mrs Tree Lover

Has your son ever hugged a tree? I find it very grounding when I am triggered. The life force
Connects

Also has he tried support groups?

In person is best. You get to know people slow and easy, realize you aren't the only one.

You aren't invisible. Other people walk your path. Speak the struggle.

Meeting a group can take up to 6wks to be comfortable.
So tell him to be patient honor his feelings and leave when he must.

Go back and try again.

Peace

Hope everyone is doing well. Been really struggling emotionally this week. I'm unemployed and worried about money.

To top it off, I started Weight Watchers and find that I'm hangry a lot of the time . Think I'm going to stop doing it. It's a bit too restrictive and makes me feel guilty for eating certain food which doesn't help my depression.

Hey Forever

I use to love crackers and jam
Years later found out it was weight watchers πŸ˜†

Read up on "portion control" and more snacks or ask your doc office /nutritionist about it.
on the average meal plate has food for 2 meals.

Then there are these tricky snacks you make that taste out of this world!
Like Swiss chard chips

All that healthy stuff, is actually very tasty πŸ˜‹

Crackers and jam! Yum!

Love that and cracker and cheese. Also, peanut butter and banana is a favorite of mine.

Too much of an emotional eater. Really trying to portion control and learn other ways to cope with my emotions.

I get on crackers and peanut butter kicks. Sometimes I put strawberry jam also. So good.

It is hard not to be an emotional eater. Food is often comfort. And I think it distracts us a little. Healthy snacking doesn't hurt much. I eat a lot of fruit.

I used to like banana sandwiches. Yum. I ate a tomato sandwich the other day.

I hope you all have a good day... Forever, it is nice to see you post again.

Hugs, Karen...

Hey GB, BnotAfriad, and HT,

A dietician would definitely help, but I think my food binges is emotional. It's so weird that I will eat although I'm stuff. It's like my emotions take over.

I've talked with my therapist about this, but to be honest, she doesn't really offer good suggestions. I'm pretty much on my own trying to figure things out.

Anyway, hope everyone is doing well. I was a bit affected by the Queen's death-and I'm American! Her passing just really hit home how mortal we are.

Have a Goodnight/morning.

P.S. Really hope this forum picks up again. I know it's been quiet for a while, but who knows. Keeping hope that it becomes active again.

I felt bad about the Queen's death too. I think it was because she was Queen for so long. She was a good lady.

It would be nice if the forum picked up again. I miss it too. I think I have been here since 07. That seems like a long time. I guess it is.

Surround yourself with healthy foods. Buy a lot of fruit if you can. Cut things small. Take small bites. You will get this under control. Have some faith in yourself.

Hugs, Karen...

The queen. BUMMER but
We all are called when our time comes, our struggle over.

Forever
Maybe you could try ORGAIN protein shakes

When we are stressed we loose minerals and potassium.
Low potassium. Will mKe you grave sugars.
More sugar, worse the gravings get.

I have the opposite problem, I don't eat.

Then I only eat donuts and muffins
Dietician at my GIs office
Thoroughly educated me!!

I am trying hard

I can say the shakes taste
100 xs better than ensure
And ALOT more benefits.

Stay strong
