Hello To All,
I have had depression/anxiety for well over 20 years. I have been on amiltriptyline for most of that time, also. I take 1mg of xanx 4x's a day. My depression really flared up a couple of years ago and having major surgery last year didn't help. I recently started on 10mg's of lexapro and so far it's been helping. I haven't been on it long enough to get the full effect.(almost a month) At first it made me sleepy and I split the 10mg's into two doses, and took half in the morning and half in the afternoon. The tiredness is leaving now, so I hope I'm going to be ok for a while again.
My problem is that I start to feel almost good and then I have a bad day that sets me back. I should know by now that comes with the territory. I was dx'd with depression when I was 19. The onset was horrible and I will never forget it. The depression and anxiety hit at the same time. I couldn't function at all, except for showering and personal hygiene and not even that was easy. I stayed in bed for three weeks and then was hospitalized for a month. I have to admit, I'm glad I signed myself in. Our local hospitals had psychiatric wards back then.
At this point I know I'm going to continue to get better again or fall backwards into the darkness of depression. I sure hope it's not the later.
I have read some of the posts on this site and I think you have some good people that post here.
I do have a few things to learn. I think you can give your email address on this board, but I don't know how. I also don't know how to get to my profile. lol Anyone that can help would be appreciated. I hope to get to know all of you. Smiles across the miles...Silver

Hi Silver,  Welcome to Healing Well forum.  We are glad to have you.

Thank you for sharing your experiences.  It is hard to do I know but can also be very healing.  I often say sometimes you have to fall backwards before you can move forwards.  I truly believe this about depression which I have had for many, many years.  Stay strong and believe in yourself and your treatment.

You can add your e-mail address by going into control panel and then edit profile at the blue bar at the top of the screen.  I hope that you continue to post I will look forward to seeing more from you.  Take care...

I wanted to say hi, because I am new too.  I wish I could help you with the computer stuff, but I am afraid I am in the same boat as you.  I have figured out that if you go to the far left of the page you will see some icons, the one with the envelope allows you to e-mail that individual.
I have been seeign alot of posts re Lexapro, what is it?  MAO or SSRI?
Thanks and welcome.
