I have never tried it but I believe that just stretching can help you feel better. Your body is less tense and it just gives you a much more positive feeling. I stretch every day and I do not know if it has helped my depression but it helped with my Crohn's Disease and a litlle bit of my anxiety. I think whatever you love doing if you do it will make you feel less depressed.

Hi Innershanti -

Welcome to the HealingWell forum. While I have only heard of the book you mentioned, I have been practicing Yoga for about 6 years now. I find it a really wonderful way to relax. I first took a class at a local community college when I had a really stressful job and it was the one thing that helped kept me calm, cool, and collected. I couldn't believe the difference one class made. I would highly recommend giving Yoga a chance to anyone who is interested. I especially found taking a class to be the easiest way to make sure I was using the proper form, then I purchased a few DVD's and have been using those ever since! Good luck and let me know how your practice develops!

Hi Innershanti - I too wanted to welcome you to Healing Well forum.  I have tried yoga once before after my MS diagnosis and had a hard time with balance.  Before I was diagnosed I used to run every morning and was always going to the gym.  And now I just do pool exercises.  I have had several people recommend tai-chi but I havent tried it either.  Maybe now I will look into it couldnt hurt.....
