So much as happend, my brother is still depressed, drinking and still has anger issues. He went to therapy last Monday, and supposed to go again this Friday.  He gets angry over the smallest things, calls me which is good he can vent to me, then calls me 2 hours later vent, calls me the next day vent.  Depression is such a long process, sometimes I feel like I don't have help.  His future wife is going to therapy with him, he kept his anger issue under control while my dad was here.  His son is visiting his granddad, I had to make him go, he did not want to leave.  When he vents, the first two times, I can listen and be understanding and give an objective opinion, but after the 3rd and 4th time, I don't want to hear it anymore, because he is not hearing me.  This illness, affects the entire family and not just the ones who live with you but the ones who love you too.

Hi Zorna,

You and I are both coping with people close to us being depressed, so a big hug to you from a fellow confused person (and I've had depression -- not as bad -- myself and am *still* confused: how's that fair?!?!).

I've been reading up a lot on this recently, and one thing I'm beginning finally understand is that the "he doesn't listen" often turns out to be more like "he can't hear properly" -- everything gets quashed or distorted by the depression.

I'm reading a book called "Depression Fallout" at the moment and (although it's aimed at partners of depressed people) it might give you some useful info in working out why things get like they do with your brother (and his future wife might want to read it!).

That said, you may very well know much more about this than me: as you said, you needed a rant. -- Rant all you like!!! :)

All best,

I think I will reply because you are going through so much.
I stand by someone with depression and I know how tough it can get.
Look after you, take time out for you hun.
Take care
I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
