Hi, I am new here, but this isn't my first depression forum.
I am a 43 year old female, single, and have been suffering on and off with depression since about age 25.
Well depression has reared it's ugly head again ... honestly I haven't felt "right" in probably about 6 years but it was manageable.   Recently I went through some health issues and came out being quite depressed, although not the worst I've ever been. Still, that deep, sad feeling ... I can't get rid of it. All those negative twisted thoughts running around in my head.  I can even start to notice other people noticing my depression.
So my p-doc put me on a different a/d, Cymbalta.   After 8 days I started feeling a wee bit better!!! I was so psyched.  But that only lasted a couple of days and now ... ick.
Most of my life (the depressed part of my life) I have tracked my depressions with diaries and I do remember this happening with the last med that really worked for me .... (but no longer does... Prozac) it would start to work then stop, then start again, then stop ... then steadily start to work .... lifted the depression so I could better handle everything going on in my life.
Please, someone tell me that if I felt a partial response from a med and it went away, that chances are it will come back!!!!
And by the way, yes, I think it really was the med that I felt last week .. I can definitely tell a difference between a "good depressed"  day and a "omg ... I feel more grounded today for the first time in months, maybe years" day.
Thanks for listening. Would love to hear from all --- especially experiences about meds "kicking in" ... and how it feels for you. :)

I sympathize with you, njcat, but unfortunately I cannot tell you otherwise. I too had the same problems with anti-depressant meds. Most of them haven't touch my symptoms of fatigue, but the ones that did - like Cymbalta - stopped working after a few months. It's a very frustrating thing. I understand. Now I am trying to figure out what I can do in my life to manage without the use of prescription drugs. I know that for some people that really isn't an option...
