sad  Hi i just signed up with this so I could talk to some people about my problems. I had a baby about 5 months ago and 4 days after i had my daughter my post partum depression came! I moved down to Florida to be with my boyfriend where I picked up oxycontin as my antidepressant. Now i'm clean and my depression has only gotten worse. I feel like i'm always about to cry, That there's nothing to be happy about, I can't even pick myself up to do normal cleaning around the house. I even find it's getting harder and harder every day to take care of my own daughter, I'm just soooooo down and upset all day and crying. I have anxiety attacks when I'am alone and get very scared. I also heard depression causes physical symptoms, It also seems my body hurts all day and my lower back kills me where I can't even stand up straight. Can anyone tell me about this medication Cymbalta? My mother told me it sounds like the right one for me. Also I can just go to my primary care physician and get prescribed the antidepressants? Thanks for your help.

Hi Nikki,

You can get antidepressants from your PCP, but share your story with him and let him decide. There are so many and he would know the best one for you. Please don't Monday morning. If you can't wait that long, get help from an ER. Post partum depression is very serious.

Hi Nikki, Welcome to Healing Well we are happy to have you.  I totally agree with do need to call your doctor and get in ASAP.  Yes, they can prescribe whatever antidepressant they feel is necessary and if your wanting to try Cymbalta than by all means suggest it.  I have never had children so I cant relate to you there but I know that post partum depression is very serious and shouldnt be put off if this is what you feeling.  Please do call your doctor.  Let us know how your doing...Take care
