My boyfriend always wants to "cheer me up" when I get in one of my depressed moods. I tell him not even to try, but he always does, and then later on, we get in an argument about how he's always cheering me up. I'm just not sure how to handle that. I feel like me being upset is tearing us apart. I never mean to take things out on him, but I know that he feels like that. Any comments?

First of all welcome to the forum,I am very glad that you found us and I hope you find the support that you are looking for.
My boyfriend has to do the same thing for me,and I know it is very frustrating. But,be glad that he is aware that you are having bad days. If you can maybe print out some information from the net and leave it on the end table..then maybe he will read it.
I would also do a search on "dealing with depressed partners,I am sure that there is something on the net.

Please keep us posted and good luck.

I know that it has become sort of cliche' but Dr. John Gray is the one who taught my husband to just listen and that I don't need him to fix my problems. He wrote the book Women are from Venus, Men are from Mars. We rented his videos by the same name and they were fabulous. He is so entertaining and funny and he slips great relationship advice in between laughs. Hubby really enjoyed watching the tapes and we had great conversations about relationship stuff. He really took it to heart and I so appreciate that.
