Hello, my friend's father has type 2 diabetes and he is a foreigner and they gave him Avandia, and apparently like 40% have had heart issues with this. He is very skinny, he is 75 years old, i am told he has high blood pressure, sugar level, and fat pressure (i guess that means high cholestoral). He is Chinese.. His family wants to know how much is a safe dosage.

The other medicine is Actos apparently not safe for liver.. He also has poor circulation in his brain.

Hi Jian.  I'm sorry for your friend's dad's problems.  Only a doctor can evaluate the medication he is taking and I hope he does have a good, experienced doctor.  Maybe he should see a specialist like an endocrinologist who can figure this out.  There may be some other members who are familiar with this medicine and they can tell you what they know.  Sorry I can't be of more help.

I was given a sample of Actos by my doctor a few years ago.  He wanted me to try it.  I took one tablet and spent the rest of the day testing my blood sugar and eating non-stop just to keep my blood sugar above 50!  It frightened me so I don't want to take it again.
But, on the other hand,my friend's husband takes Actos and he has had no problem with it and it does help him a lot.  So, my suggestion is, if his doctors put him on one of these, he needs to be monitored, including liver panels if he is put on Actos.  The negative symptoms don't happen with everyone.  Hope this helps.

I also had bad problems with Actos... We're talking "falling down a well" almost passing out from low sugar. Didn't like it one bit!
