Respiratory infection and blood sugar levels

How does having a cold effect your blood sugar levels?  A lot higher, a little higher or is it ever lower? Thanks for your response.

ptddsdo, I know that anytime I am sick with anything it raises my blood sugar. Even when it is just a day or two of just not feeling up to snuff my sugar will go up. I think that's pretty typical of most everyone. Hope this helps.

My sugar goes up even before I get the obvious signs of an illness. I usually see it in my fasting first- maybe 10 points for a couple of days and then "I come down with"- whatever it is.  By then, my overall numbers rise also.
If it's one of those 24-hour type bugs,it rises as I get sick.
