Hey everyone,
My mom just went to the podiatrist and he informed her that she had a foot ulcer which is quite close to her foot bunion....
Now My mom doesnt have diabetes from what we know...however my Grandfather had diabetes, so im sure anything is possible, but even when my grandfather was diagnosed with being a diabetic, oddly enough after 20 somethings years later, his diabetes dissappeared....(weird anomaly, if i must say so myself..LOL)
So as for my mom, the dr gave her an antibiotic and some cream to apply to the ulcer..So my question is, can a person get a Foot ulcer with out having Diabetes...?
The wound started 15 days ago, and for the first week it was getting worse, then when my mom finally showed me, I told her that its infected, so then some pus came out, and we have been cleanning it with Iodine...after all that ,its started to look a little better but the wound just looked deeper, soo thats why my mom finally went to the doctor, he imforned her that she will be ok once the antibiotic kicks in....

Hi Babz, I'm sorry about your mom's problems.  According to what I've read online, there might be several causes including diabetes.  Take a look at this website.  Make sure she's taking care of this and if it's not getting better, she'll need to see the doctor again without delay.

Foot ulcers are usually caused by poor circulation which is a side effect of many illnesses. Be sure to have follow up appointments with the doctor at least once a week until he declares it healed. This can be serious and even life threatening. Amputation and gangrene are the major complications of foot ulcers.
