As the title suggests, I eat (enough that I feel satisfied), but within half an hour to an hour, I feel like I'm starving! I typically try to wait at least two hours between meals/snacks, but sometimes that's really hard to do! I eat combinations of: meat, cheese, eggs, low-carb yogurt, veggies, rhubarb sauce (made with Splenda, of course!), and almonds. My postprandial numbers are awesome, imo (usually around 125), so I feel really good about the kinds of things I'm eating. And I make sure to have some fat with every meal/snack, as fat is supposed to make you feel full longer. But no matter what I eat, I'm always hungry shortly thereafter!

I tried Byetta specifically because it was supposed to curb the hunger. And it did--by making me so sick I was constantly bed-bound. I stayed on it for 3 months and never got over being sick, at which point I had to call it quits! I've recently started taking fish oil (1000mg three times a day) because, among other things, it, too, is supposed to curb hunger. But I haven't noticed a difference yet...

Please help me! Eating "correctly" is hard enough in its own right. Being hungry all the time makes it darn near unbearable! (The only thing keeping me going is the satisfaction I get from a good number when I check my blood sugar!)

In case it matters, I'm female, 26, Type 2, overweight (but working on it...), and on lots of meds: ActosPLUS, Lantus (once a day), Carbatrol, Effexor, Lexapro, Levothyroxine, Lisiniopril, Cyclobenzaprine, Birth control, Rhinocort nasal spray, Fish oil, acidophilus, and Imitrex as needed.

Thanks!

Heather,
Something you need to know about diabetes is that it's probably a left over anti-famine device that got your forebears through lean times. By building fat before feeding your muscle cells your body is ready the next time there is a scarcity of food. Sometimes a short walk right after eating, just 5 minutes away and 5 minutes back will switch over your metabolism to admit the glucose into the cells before it's converted into fat. This may stop the hunger response if you are insulin resistant.

Also, repeat after me, "I am not starving. There is no famine.... I am not starving. There is no famine." turn

Thanks for the advice Jeannie! I'll definitely have to give that a try! (I was too busy/pumped full of adrenaline to notice or care about excessive hunger today.)
