Pardon my brain freeze. Thanks, Jeannie and Kris. The reason we survive on a no- or low- carb diet is that the liver will help start producing glycogen to help feed our brain the glucose it needs. This is not an unusual task for the liver, as there are many cultures that do not create meals around a carbohydrate but eat lots of protein from animals, fish or legumes and a variety of vegetables.
Still, if you choose to eat food such as hot dogs, sausage or other 'composed' protein units, check their ingredients. Beware of fillers which may be some sort of cereal, sugars, etc. (not to mention chemicals ).
