Hello Dwign and welcome to the Diabetes Forum. It's rather common that diabetes type 2 is found to run in families and if your uncle and cousin both have had it, I think you also need to be vigilant. The 125 reading you had an hour and a half after eating a slice of pizza shows that your blood sugar was elevated.
I would suggest that you see your doctor and explain to him/her what you wrote here. There are blood tests that they can do in the office to see what's going on.
A lifestyle change can head off extremely high blood sugar. If you are overweight and eating a lot of carbs like pizza (
), bread, rice, potatoes, pasta and not getting some regular, sustained exercise, you might have elevated blood sugar and since your mom's side of the family seems to have diabetes, then I really encourage you to pursue this for your own health. How about
your mom and siblings? Do you have children?
I'm glad you're aware of your family's health and that you're asking questions!
