I am currently taking 2,000 mg of metformin a day and my recent A1c is 7.1. My doctor wants to add Jardiance which I am not sure I want to do. Does anyone have experience with this drug?

Welcome to HealingWell! I'm not familiar with this drug but others may be, and I hope they can post some information about their experience.

My first reaction to your post is to ask what you're eating because you are on a lot of metformin which works with diet and exercise but if you are eating a lot of carbohydrates, then the metformin will not be effective.

I am not a doctor (!) but it seems logical to me to see what's going on with the patient before adding another medication. Can you please write what you're eating for meals?

Also, are you on any other medication at all for any other conditions? The reason I'm asking is that some medication do have effects on blood sugar.

I'm glad you found HealingWell and that you posted!

Metformin didn't work for me much either and the side effects were bad for me, diarrhea and headaches. Never been on the other medicine. I did my research and determined that victoza would be right for me. I took my research to my Dr and he agreed to let me start victoza on the lowest dose possible and so far my numbers are better. I started at night but he wanted me to try morning and I did but my fasting went higher so now I'm starting my dose back up at night.
