"Been reading thru this thread and was wondering about certain meds that can elevate blood glucose levels. I'm on Losartan 50mg twice daily. Recently started taking my blood glucose readings on my One Touch verio meter, and was shocked to see it so elevated. Up almost 60 points since taking it earlier this summer. The Lorsartan I'm taking does not have the hctz in it. I called my pharmacy and he told me that it would have to include it on the label if it was in my prescription. So the question is, can plain old losartan without the hctz still increase BG levels?

Welcome to HealingWell, Susan. I'm glad you found us. Since you posted your question at the end of another thread, I copied it and started a new thread for you.

I looked up side effects of Lorsartan and didn't find anything regarding elevated blood sugar. In fact, one of the sites said that hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), is a rare occurrence.

Do you know what your blood sugar readings were before you started the Lorsartan?
