Hi and welcome to HealingWell. I have not heard of type 3 so I had to Google it and here is one link that explains it: /www.livestrong.com/article/22165-diabetes-type/
I have no idea about
this and honestly his doctor failed him if he did not give him a longer appointment to explain this and what therapy they should prescribe.
Please read the stickies at the top of this Diabetes forum and the link in my signature. That link will explain many facts about
blood sugar, what is normal blood sugar, etc.
In short, to keep blood sugar at normal levels, he needs to cut out food made with flour, sugar, potatoes, rice and other high carb food. Carbs are what keep blood sugar very high. Unfortunately so much of our food like bread, crackers, muffins, rolls are made from flour but they will raise the blood sugar very high. It's better to stick to some kind of protein and vegetables, nuts, cheese, some dairy products.
Try to read all you can about
this. I can help you a lot with food for better blood sugar. I'm sure this is a worrisome problem. Post any questions you have. We may not have all the answers but we'll try to help.
