Honestly, I have not been in a situation where I needed a pain management doctor, so I can't give you advice about
that. In the past I've dealt with hip bursitis several times, frozen shoulder, strained back and sciatica but they were all handled by my regular doctor who referred me to an orthopedist when necessary, physical therapy and prescribed anti-inflammatories and steroid shots and pills (these steroids were for the bursitis and they were not long term).
What I know about
bulging disks is not too much, as I've written in my other posts. I am a little confused though when you say you called your pcp. Have you not been in his office and had the proper tests done? X-rays, MRI? He needs to diagnose the problem and then the path of treatment begins.
