Oh Quack!! Where did you get the idea to give Insulin below the knees? No wonder your leg has been in pain so long. I've heard of a few people who injected in the calve area(I wouldn't) but that is not a suggested area. Especially, if a person runs or walks too much afterward or takes a hot or warm shower or bath afterwards. That would bring sugar down too fast.
I've also heard of some women giving shots in their boobs. Not a good idea either. Nor is some men giving shots in their chest area especially when having a hot or warm shower soon after. Will bring the sugar level down way too fast. My hubby has given some shots in the shoulder areas because I got a rash on my thighs(not related to injections) and I had used my stomach area too much through the years.
Areas for injections: back of arms between elbows and shoulders. Slightly above and on butt and hip areas, if you can reach. Having someone give you shots is good too. Stomach area: I use above, below and beside - 2 inches away from belly button in each direction. Thighs, on sides, tops, 3-4 inches above knees, depending how much fat each person has on their thighs. As mentioned, I have not used my calves. If desperate, I may but me thinks that would hurt too. I would NOT give injections into any lumps already on my body, if I had any. Or on scar tissue.

There is a product called Emla cream. It lessens pain if a person puts it on injection spots already decided upon. Put on injection spots, 1 hour before the injections.
The skelaxin does not cause bad breath. Neither does the oxycodone. But the oxycodone does cause dry mouth which can cause bad breath. Dry mouth or prolonged high blood sugars can cause gum disease which can cause bad breath. But if your Doctor says some rare people may get bad breath from Insulin and you may be one of them. So be it.
Oh, good for you. I love taking photos of animals.
