I'm no expert but I've noticed things.
A few years ago, I improved my diabetes (Type 2) by quitting the potato chips and eating cashews instead. Later, I found out (the hard way ... kidney stones) that nuts are full of oxylates. My A1C improved greatly and I lost weight but nobody wants kidney stones (trust me).
When I was drinking too much (grief issues), my A1C, BG & BP were great because I wasn't eating anything to speak of. I lost weight again but my potassium levels dropped dangerously ... almost died ... ambulance saved me.
When I quit drinking and blended up some banana smoothies, my potassium leveled out, my BP (according to my Doc) is "obscenely optimum" but my BG is way too high ... even on 2 Metformins a day + extra toilet breaks.
The way I see it at 64, is maybe sometimes you just mix a rum 'n Coke with a slice of lime and just eat a darn
cookie & maybe a couple of cashews ... sometimes.
The keys seem to be MODERATION & QUALITY OF LIFE, in My darn Humble Opinion. Just sayin'. Either that or learn to juggle all those numbers & equations but be warned; once you learn how to do that, THEY throw in a few more numbers LOL
I'm no expert ... I'm just a guy.
