can you have all the symptoms of dm but not lose weight?

Welcome to the Diabetes Forum. Do you have diabetes? I'm a little confused by your question, I guess. Most people with type 2 have difficulty when trying to lose weight. What symptoms do you have? Are you on any diabetes medication? What other meds are you on?

I am assuming that you are referring Type 1 diabetes (can develop at any age) where excessive thirst, increased urination and losing weight are common symptoms. The only way to know is to get your blood sugar tested and request antibodies testing. Not all Type 1 diabetics lose weight rapidly. Your PCP/GP should be able to start intial testing.

If you suspect Type 2, answering Lani’s questions would be helpful!
