Hi again. I owe many things to my family, some good and some not so good like health issues. Diabetes runs in my mother's side and now my brother and sister and I all have diabetes (and high blood pressure) so it was probably inevitable. But today we have a lot more resources at our fingertip than the prior generations did. Also we know more about diet and how it affects blood sugar. So, we have to be our own advocates, learning all we can and doing what we can to follow a healthy low-carb diet.
By low-carb I don't mean keto or other diets. My own food plan is "low carb" but not high protein or high fat. I eat a piece of protein (chicken, meat, fish) and vegetables (but no potatoes) and greens, eggs, cheese, peanut butter, small amount of yogurt and small amount of berries. Still, people may react differently to the same food and this is why we need to keep a food diary. Also be aware that the guidelines for blood sugar targets put out by the Diabetes Association are very high, too high in fact and following them will keep blood sugar extremely elevated.
Hope you can get this resolved. By the way, the only test to check for diabetes is the GTT, Glucose Tolerance Test.
