My husband is a type 2 diabetic who does not diet or exercise very well. 2 days ago, his lower legs developed all kinds of subcutaneous little bloody areas. Nothing above the Knees or anywhere else on his body. He said it was itchy, mostly around the ankles. There was nothing on the surface of the skin - only under the skin. He thought this was from being in the ocean on Sunday. I was with him and there was nothing unusual in the water. I was wondering if this could be a complication of his diabetes. Thank you.

Hi and welcome, wife. The onset of my disease is recent and so far it is mild. I do have itching on my legs, though. Three times I've had cellulitis, and it was between the ankles and the knees. The first two times it got blisters that "wept" lymph. It was intensely itchy and sore at the same time. I don't know whether that is at all related to diabetes, but if it persists, and especially if it gets worse, I'd tell him to see the doctor ASAP. Hope it's not that, and there are any number of things it could be. Someone more knowledgeable should be along to respond soon.
Take care. Lois

Dear DW,
Any time a diabetic has any type of unknown condition they should call the doctor's office and get in pronto. This doesn't sound like a rash and it could be a drug reaction or something very serious. It would be better to be safe than sorry. I hope it's nothing at all... but it should really be checked out. Let us know how it goes, ok?
