i had a couple seizures aout 2 years ago and was prescribed dilantin and was told to take 300 mg's a day.  the last time I seen my neuroligist was in feb and he said he wanted to try to wean me off them and see if the seizures stop occuring.   we aggreed to wait till next winter (when i get laid off from work) to do this.  i decided to start cutting back on them anyways just because i heard they werent that great to take.  im now taking 200-400 mg's a week and still seizure free.  ive been taking this low of a dose for about a 2 to 3 months but am kinda scared to just stop taking them.   any idea if what im taking is enough to actually work and maybe they have gone away.  or is what im taking such a low dose that if it works should i just keep taking this since its not enough to harm me much?

I have seen a schedule similar to the following but it was done under the direct supervision of a Neurologist.
325 mg qd x 2 mo (125+200)
300 mg qd x 2 mo (100+200)
200 mg qd x 2 mo (100+100)
100 mg qd x 2 mo (0+100)
then stop.
This is just a sample and not intended for anyone to try on their own.
