Hi everyone,
I just wanted to know if the following has happened to anyone else. But first, I need to explain that I had a grand mal seizure in August 2012 and possibly one partial seizure before that date. After that date, I believe I have been having random partial seizures. I have not been to a neurologist because, quite frankly, I'm poor and do not have health insurance. So, I have not been diagnosed as being epileptic. With that being said...

The other day, I went into Zaxbys and the fans were on. As I waited in line to order my food, I realized that the fans were creating a strobe-like effect with the bright light bulbs that they use. So, at first, I didn't really notice anything weird, but after a while of waiting in line, I started to feel sick, which is a clue that my brain is going to fry and I will probably have a seizure. That's the only way I can explain that. Anyway, so I told my friend who was luckily with me, and she ended up getting them to turn the fans off. Thank goodness. I didn't really have a seizure, I don't think, but I couldn't follow my friend's conversation that well and I just felt "out of it." So that was yesterday.

Today, when I was talking about the theories behind planetary formation (don't ask. lol!) with my husband, my brain seemed to short out. I had no idea what he was saying. I understood that it was English and I understood that I should know the words, but after every single word he said, I would only remember a specific word he said at the beginning of my brain-frying episode. And, I have no idea how this makes sense, but I remember thinking that the noise (his words) "hurt." I'm not sure how a normal tone of voice can "hurt," but whatever.

So, my question is: was this a delayed seizure in response to the strobe lights of Zaxby's? Or if I had a partial seizure at Zaxby's that I didn't really recognize as being one, was this possibly a second seizure also caused by the strobe lights?

I am just very confused and I don't understand why this keeps happening to me. I'm pretty healthy for the most part and I don't do drugs or drink. So... anyway, anyone know?

Thanks so much!

Hi Amy,

I have Temporal Lobe seizures, mine aren't triggered by lighting or anything I have identified.

The following link has some information you may find useful. They discuss prodrome and pre-Ictal phases of seizures, attributing prodromes up to 24 hours in advance of the seizure. There's also a questionnaire you may find useful.

Other sites list prodromes up to days before a seizure. Although I could find nothing specific about delayed seizures, it seems implicit that if the prodrome can occur 24hrs or more before - that a trigger may set the process in motion at that early time.

If you operate cars or machinery, and have an uncontrolled seizure disorder, and can harm yourself or others if it occurs while you're driving or operating a machine. Despite not having insurance, you may be able to find a clinic at a local hospital that can arrange for the necessary testing and examinations.

The reason this keeps happening I suppose is that you haven't seen a neurologist and are most likely not taking medication which you should do as an epileptic.

A lot of seizures are caused by a combination of effects, strobe light effects in combination with certain sounds and a chance of temperature for example. This doesn't mean you can't have one out of the blue or during your sleep.

Only sensible thing to do is see a neurologist and, if needed, get some meds.
To stand and be still at the Birkenhead Drill is a mighty bullet to shew.

Try cannabis will correct the problem and you wont have to worry about it anymore.

Watch "run form the cure" the Rick Simpson Story . find it on will show you how to make it.

smoking might help a little bit but ingesting the oil is way more beneficial
