I have been on dilantin for 27 yrs and one major side effect that I've noticed is ~ shrinkage of the Cerebellum. When I lose my balance and fall to the ground, I find it hard to get up or if I want to get down on my knees, I can only go down about half way and then I have to let myself fall the rest of the way, then I find it hard to get up (Cerebellum controls motor functions).
This is also why my balance and gait are getting worse.
Anybody else experiencing the same type of problems?
Diagnosed with epilepsy and ulcerative colitis in 1979,
Been on meds ever since.

I've been taking Dilantin for more than 15 years...maybe closer to 20. Anyway, yes, I have noticed that my balance isn't what it should be. It's off just a bit.
